why do the keys have chips in them

oh i tried to get another set cut out at true value but the guy that does it wasnt there

The car won't start unless the car reads the signal from the key; or so I'm told.

Its true, its a security feature so people can't just go make a key and then steal someones stang. If the car doesn't read the signal from the chip it won't crank. Been there and done that

Someone stole my bag at the beach that had my only key in it once and it was $200 for a lock smith to come out and make a new one on the spot....-___-

I hope the person that stole my bag was happy with the $2 and the pair of sandals.... because other then the keys thats all that was in it...
