Might play with my timing also when I get there. I had it set at 14 after I put it back together but tweaked it a little more. It's not pinging yet and I'm runnin 93 octane.
The 03-04 Mach1 manuals are documented to be .60 sec faster than the autos. They also have a higher redline of 6800 compared to autos, don't know why though.

The redline is probably lower to prevent damage to the auto tranny maybe?

Hadn't thought of that. It makes sense, cause it would probably have to be slightly built more than what would be needed for the standard GT's.

Still pretty tough as they are though.

Saw a CL ad today for a 302 block stating it was a rare or hard to find block stamped XXX in the oil valley(mine is also stamped that I think) saying it had more nickel in them so their tolerances were better

Most roller blocks were the xxx.

Those are the mexican made blocks, and generally they had more nickel so you could bore them a little larger without problems. If you were going to bore a motor to .060 over you MIGHT get away with it with those. But its a hit and miss kind of thing. Mine is bored .040 over and it is a mexican block and i have no issues.

Lots of false & misleading info out there about the Mexican blocks.
Basically all they had were thicker main caps and in some cases heavier webbing. IMO, not really worth any more than a regular old roller cam block. In any 302 block what you need to look for is the amount of core shift when the block was poured. If the side freeze plugs are well centered in the bosses, then you have a pretty good block and boring it to .060 should be ok in most cases, but you will still end up with really thin cylinder walls.
