Re: Traded in the 'vette:

just curious. how come there is a mustang VS corvette on here when their not the same class of cars. the mustang is a pony car. the corvette is a full blown muscle car.

the compatition for a mustang is a GTO or a Camaro or challanger etc. not a vette. just askin how come.

GTO - POS, not worth our time
or a Camaro - A what?
or a challanger - Since it just came out, hard to do a mustang vs challenger as there really aren't any on the street.

Therefore, the only thing left is the vette...

but theres is too much HP and style difference.

corvette = 2 seater with stock 400 or 505 hp engine
mustang 4 seater with stock 210 or 300 hp engine.

OR, 500 hp when you get in the upper models.

Point is, there really is nothing in the mustangs class when it comes to domestics until the challenger hits the streets...and if the craparo hits the streets.

None the less, I like to compare mine to vettes instead of those others since those others are not of interest to me. My target is set much higher than to be able to beat a craparo or gtslow.

i know theres not really a mustang VS vette

but some of the comments seemed like it though out the forum. just wondering why.

Re: Traded in the 'vette:

in terms of anything but their superior/special models (IE GT500/SS/Challenger Drag Edition):

Challenger>Camaro>Mustang

hell even a stock new Camaro or Challenger are going to compete with a pulley/tune 03/04 Cobra, and they are still n/a. Ford needs to stop making piddly **** 300hp small displacement V8's. Base GT IMO = 5.4L 4v with at least 350hp.

My First Car! Except mine was school bus yellow. cool thing was everyone on campus thought that just cause it was a mustang meant it had some big V8 under the hood, too bad it was really just a great sounding 2.3l I4. only thing i miss about that car is being able to turn around (180*) within a lane and a half.

Re: Traded in the 'vette:

blah blah blah. Ford doesn't need to do anything else. It's not like the Challenger or Camaro will outsell the Mustang. Didn't happen in the 90's and won't happen now. The Challenger is in a different price range than the Mustang anyway.

With gas prices going up consumers aren't going to be running out buying these high horsepower gas guzzlers anyway. Ford's got it right with the Mustang.

Thats because Mark is a personal friend of a bunch of us so we give him a hard time, as he is pretty much the only regular non mustang owner besides myself.

I dunno know if I would consider a Jeep driving, non-lesbian regular.

Oh yeah, Corvettes suck and so do all other GMs ever made, ever. Ever.

You are wrong sir. Dead wrong. I had a Mustang go for 1.2 million miles and never even changed the air filter.

220k is nothing. I had a Suzuki Sidekick get that many miles on the factory engine and tranny. The girls loved it too. I even beat a '81 Vette in it once, until I messed up on the double clutchin' going into fourth.
