Should trade the stang?

My brother-in-law has a 01 corvette z06 and he's looking to sell it its got a LOT done to it has over 600 rwhp and I've personally driven this car 215 MPH. So basically it's FAST. He says its mid 9's in the quarter mile and I believe it.

To buy it I would have to get rid of my 05 GT tho.... And I really don't know much about vets

Hope you can afford anything that goes wrong on that car? Isn't everything parts/labor wise, more expensive to repair? Kind of like owning Porsche, etc.

That's the main thing I'm wondering. And I'm not sure how reliable they are. It would not be a DD tho I can't imagine trying to drive it in the winter.

^ Well, if not a DD, then I would say "Go for it." sounds like a fun car. Get used to car before really getting on it though : )

I would be all over that car. Definitely worth selling the stang for. There's nothing like 600 horses at your foot. Im sure parts/labor are more expensive but shouldn't be quite as bad as Porsche or something like that because it is still American. Idk really tho, never had a chance to own a vette

It may be faster,,but your car looks alot cooler than a corvette,,you can soak some money in yours and get it faster..The good thing about a mustang,,is you can make it fast,,but you can still pile up family or freinds and ride..just my opinion..

A lot of times you can get a part for a different gm vehicle but still fits the vette at a much lower cost. It's the same part just different part # so they can charge more because its for a vette.

its pretty rough on the interior just cosmetics but the outside paint is less than 2 years old.

i still think mustangs are more comfortable and look cooler but Id probably have to put 30 grand into a GT to make it that fast...

He would sell it to me for right around 25k

He bought the car in I think 04 for almost 38k and I have no idea how much he's put in it on mods.

Maybe 15 grand,,but if you want a 2 seater drag car thats would be the way to go..If you can work on it that would save you money,,a coworker has a older one,,he paid 300 just to replace the plugs,,plus the interior all bleached out and cheap looking,,I know the new one looks pretty cool though

You can get a mustang GT to go 200+ mph and 9 second quarter? Would it be reliable tho?

I can see putting 15k into my stang I'd just be afraid it would be breaking all the time.

I see both sides, but this is a good point.

The vette is already built and I know it's about as reliable as a 600 HP modded car can be he's already built the engine and trans and rear end drive shaft brakes fuel system tons of stuff. Plus it's already done so I don't have to invest the time and hoping I get good mechanics to do a good job.

If it's not a DD I like the trade
But just an fyi the similar year lingenfelter TT vette was a 9sec car but that was closer to 800hp (not sure rwhp or fwhp) with drag slicks.
But that was on stock suspension also.
I think motor trend tested it sometime back. It should be on youtube?...I'd post a link but can't use youtube currently

You build her right shell hold up..But if you run 9 seconds in a mustang or a vette ,,somethings going to give eventually..But its all what you want,,not what everybody tells ya,,so good luck with your choice,,your mustang ought to be easy to sell..looks good

Yea I'm just totally a ford guy but if I've always had a soft spot for corvettes.

Ill be putting my stang up for sale next week and hope it'll sell before summer. He's not really in any rush to sell it he's got it payed off so he doesn't care if I can't get it till summer so that's cool.

Blue book for my stang in my area is $18,500 ill prob try and get 16k for it.

I looked at them if my family would fit in one comfortably I'd love to have one. But at this point we NEED a van and I can't afford a $60,000 car for a second vehicle lol

185 MPH, btw In case your wondering, those lights on the RPM gauge are temporary redline markers they come on when the engine is cold and tell you what the highest safe RPM is at a cold tempature, and go away as the engine warms up, when warm the orange line is 7500 and the redline is 8000
