Why won't you vote for a 3rd party

I see people always saying they never vote for a 3rd party because no one else is voting for them or "they don't have a chance to win" which is basically the same thing.

To those who do this, why? What sense does it make to want actual change in government but then turn around and basically say you are not going to actually put your vote to use and vote for actual change because the 3rd party candidate doesn't have a chance to win according to the media?

Can someone please make sense out of that? If you are fed up with the Republicans and Democrats then don't vote for them. Your vote is better spent on a candidate that better reflects your views, whether it be Libertarian, Independent or one of the many other candidates that put their name on the ballot every 4 years.

i vote to get rid of the 2 party system. IMO it is no longer beneficial to the establishment and has become counter-productive.

Well, then vote for a third party. The only reason we have a "2 party system" is because no one ever votes for a third party. It's not like it says in our Constitution that we'll have Republican and Democrat parties.

Do you really vote for that though? This November will you be voting for a 3rd party candidate?

Re: Why won't you vote for a 3rd party

I know where this is coming from. I agree and don't look at it as "wasting" a vote on someone who likely wont win, but look at it as showing that there is interest in other parties/candidates than the 2 or 3 that there always are.

It's sad that that's all we've got is 2 real choices that have a chance but instead of whining about it we could do something about it...

Re: Why won't you vote for a 3rd party

I'd vote for a third party....or anyone that actually has a brain.....the people that the dems and reps throw out there are the ones that are electable, which means they can answer questions in a 30 second media clip instead of giving a well thought out answer.

I'd recommend clicking in my sig. It's who I'll be voting for... though you can make up your own mind of course. I'm a huge Ron Paul fan boy so I'm going to be biased in that area

I've never voted for a republican or democrat candidate. That's not going to change this year, either.

I definitely would. without party-lines screwing with people, they will be forced to vote for the best candidate for office. i guarantee that almost ALL the people you see on the ballot this year would not make it on there if we got rid of the 2 party system.

as for who i am voting for this year, its still in the air really. If RP goes independent i will vote him, otherwise itll go to the 'pubs. still sucks though since Cali is a majority Dem state and will ultimately be insanely on the blue side.

Re: Why won't you vote for a 3rd party

Why not vote for the person Ron Paul has endorsed? See sig....

He isn't the only one that has his views running.

Re: Why won't you vote for a 3rd party

I would love it if they had a no confidence box we could check.....if we don't like the parties involved, check it and then we can get new people to run....only bad part is we would have to hear the campaigning again, and keep the current people in office for longer, at tthis point i know i don't want them in longer!
