So we got new additions to the household

We've had them for awhile, but I got pictures now.. well, better pictures.

Chris got a lot of money and decided to buy 2 baby veiled chameleons. He ended up getting 2 of them in a decent sized cage (for now, just wait till they get bigger), an automatic water mister, heat lamp, UV-UAV lamp, plant, and live crickets.

Click on the links for pics I recently shot.

Here's a shot of them a few months ago. The one on the left is Athena, and the one on the right is Hera.

At the moment, the cage is probably nearly 4-5 feet tall, and that's fine for the size that they are now. But when they get bigger, they are going to be put into separate cages. Probably the same size cage, but I would think bigger would be better. They'll get pretty big.

It depends, chameleons are very high maintenance creatures. If you have a huge water tank with an automatic timer to spray their cage for a week, it would be alright.. but they also need their cages to be cleaned pretty frequently as well.. and they eat like 2-3 times a day. So unless you devised a pretty clever invention that releases live crickets into their cage, I wouldn't recommend leaving them along for a week.

They are very fun to watch. I know they are just lizards, but they are so unique.

Re: So we got new additions to the household

thats cool man, im doing something like that now with a 55 gallon freshwater tank. and one very large convict chiclid. I never thought I'd have as much fun with it as I am.

going saltwater life once I get the hang of things, decent learning curve.
