Re: Excellent speech on stem cells and morality:

I like the word "Potential"

everything has the potential to do something, doesn't mean it will however. Religion shouldn't touch science. If you don't like it, too bad it's a free country.

I like the word "Free" in a free country. Imagine the incredible feats of science we can do if we had federal support for this.

Everything should be explored. Nothing at all should be left out because of what Religion might think of it. I'm actually against the majority of abortions too, so it's not as if I am oblivious to 'preserving life'.

She can do what she wants to do with her own body.

Having sex is one of those options. If she consents to sex and gets pregnant that was her choice.

Yeah, and who says she can't do something about it? It's denying her rights to her own body

Re: Excellent speech on stem cells and morality:

That's a rough area, I always figured it was a 25/75 decision. He won't have to be carrying the child for most of the year and have their lives changed around. We supply, they do all the real work behind it all. This of course is just my own opinion in the whole big picture of pregnancy.

Drive fast and you'll get a ticket, the option there is don't drive fast. But it was your decision to drive fast, and who says you'll always get a ticket? Who says having sex will always result in a pregnancy?

Re: Excellent speech on stem cells and morality:

No. He just gets to pay child support for 18 years.

It's all on you on whether or not the risks are worth the rewards. If you feel like driving 10MPH over is worth a 200 dollar ticket then feel free too. If you feel like having sex is worth the risk, however slight it may be, of getting the girl pregnant, then you have accepted that risk.

I can understand supporting abortion in regards over population, what I can't stand though is this BS that it's a women's right. The whole Pro-Choice thing annoys me too.

I'm not stupid enough to think that people are going to stop having sex either if abortion is made illegal, it's just one of those lose lose situations I have accepted I guess. I know people aren't going to stop doing it but at the same time my point is taking responsibility for what you do.

Re: Excellent speech on stem cells and morality:

but if it's made illegal, how many women will die because of some back door abortion clinic?

I don't know many people who have sex constantly and have abortions so many times they could have a punch card to receive a new one every 20 pop offs, but really.. if we are talking about life.. we have to talk about when life actually starts.

I know life starts with the first heart beat, but I believe life starts when the fetus's brain develops.

I would say.. if abortions were made legal they should make the patients having the abortion watch a film over exactly what they do and some nasty film about it in general. I don't know if they do that already, but it should be done just like how they have that warning on cigarettes.

Re: Excellent speech on stem cells and morality:

and like many things, its not just black and white. there is a grey area. so yeah, some women can abuse abortions by having a very late term abortion for no real reason, but you have to remember there are rape victoms, teenage accidents, etc. if you believe abortions are wrong, then you and those around you shouldnt have abortions... but your life decisions shouldnt impact others.

so if the sex was not consensual does he still get a 50% say in the matter? assuming you can figure out who the pile o' turd is?

Like was stated above, I too like the word "Free" in free country which is why the chick should be "Free" to choose which way she wants to go with it.

But, then again, this is off topic of the thread...and I am not up on the stemcell stuff enough to comment on it.

Re: Excellent speech on stem cells and morality:

I'm 100% fine with Stemcell research. I support it.

If the sex was not consensual then she should be able to decide with keep the baby or not. However, if you get raped and don't report it for 6 months, then decide you want to report it and not have the baby... I don't believe you should be able to abort. It's all about responsibility.

I like the Free word too. However, like with Free speech, it comes with responsibility.
