Re: Why We Need Net Neutrality

bull****.

people will stop using the internet. I will. I dont watch tv and if they are gonna make the internet like TV ill just stop using the internet.

besides, that just means someone will be able to make lots of money on pirated internet hardware, just like FTA setups to get Dish/DTV signals for free.

then again, there will be providers that will try to get the most content for the cheapest price, and not charge you for additional sites to get the most customers.

basically they will kill the current internet, and a new internet will emerge in its place that will be protected from such commercial endavours.

i guess we will have to wait and see.

honestly, i dont think people will go from paying $XX/mo for connectivity and speed with unlimited bandwidth and the freedom to view whatever sites they wish, to paying $XX/mo for only being able to visit what sites you are subscribed to. any consumer out there that thinks the latter is a better way of doing things and would like to hop on board needs to be shot.

it was bad enough when i heard Comcast wanted to start having a maximum allowable monthly bandwidth.

i browse ~5 forums daily (ME, motechracing.com (our local site), SVTP, DSMLink forums and DSMtuners), any fee to visit any of those sites daily would freaking cost a fortune at the end of the month. millions of communities would cease to exist in the blink of an eye.
