Why did I buy a Shelby

I was just talking to a guy that worked on Toyota's and he said the Tundra could not only beat me in 0-60 times but it could be carrying 3400 pounds in the bed while towing a trailer at the same time. Dang I could have saved a little money and got one hell of a truck at the same time. The things you learn in a bar could save you millions and make you millions at the same time. Poor Poor me

Seriously? This is a joke right?

I'm not far from you in Ohio, I live just outside of Columbus, feel free to drop it off anytime. I'm sure I can broker a deal for you since my neighbor has a new Tundra, loaded up with goodies... He comes over every chance he can to see and play with my Mustang. I keep telling him to take it for a drive, but he won't, because he knows his wife won't approve.

6.0 0-60 vs mid 4s 0-60, surely a single cab short bed tundra with a ~1.5 second zero to 60 rated deficit is faster

Best way to put them in their place is take it to the track and embarrass them

Then again TRD supercharged tundra has a very similar 0-60 but falls off FAST beyond that

Tundra owner over here. I've been using this forum to checkout all the stuff you mustang owners do to your cars so that I could help my not-so-forum-friendly-friends who own mustangs get the most out of their cars. Three of them own 2012-2013 GTs and one with a 2013 Shelby.

The GT is on hell of a sport coupe (1/4 times in the 12s with stock everything) and for the price tag it's just unbelievable. The Shelby on the other hand is a super car, usually compared to the ZR1 or the GT-R. Why am I even telling you this?! I should know better than to tell you guys about your own cars!

Anyway, this guy who says he works for Toyota is a down straight idiot. There is probably two or three Tundras in the world that could beat a stock '13 Shelby in a 1/4 mile. And those few are nowhere near stock with at least 650HP to the wheels.

With that said, here is the current fastest Tundra on drag times.com from yours truly. Bought the truck stock and used with 40K on miles back in 2011 for $18K. I spent around another $10K for the mods in my signature. I currently have 522HP and 534TRQ to the wheels. I drive my truck daily and average 15-16 MPG.

2007 Toyota Tundra RCSB 1/4 mile Drag Racing timeslip specs 0-60 - DragTimes.com

0 - 60: 3.3 - 3.5 seconds W/ DRs

Since then I've installed a better cold air intake and a dual exhaust which should put me fairly in the high 11s. Stock tires cost me around 0.4 to 0.8 seconds.

Yes, it's slower than a Shelby, but what isn't?! an MP4-12C?!

A stock 4WD Tundra runs a 1/4 in mid 15 to high 14 seconds. With a 6 inch lift that's an extra 0.5 to a whole second slower which puts it in the 16s. A supercharged 4WD tundra on the other hand runs a 1/4 mile from high 12s to low 13s, that's a close match to a stock GT. I think that guy was too drunk that he forgot to mention the blower.

Why are the rear tires smaller then the front tires in this video?

The only other option is getting 16" wheels with the proper height tires (30"-31"). This will require to take the rear brake calipers offeach time i go to the track and trim a little off the dust guard. I simply choose the easy route and got 18" wheels, and the tallest tires available for 18" wheels are 28.9" tall. They look small compared to the regular lenght 31" front tires and a full size truck doesn't make look any better.

One of the guys on the forum is trying with hole shot wheels to get custom 16" wheels with enough space for the calipers to fit.

I first heard the tearm then saw the logo. Didn't think about it until I read a comment on a YouTube video that has a flying Tundra with a huge TRD logo... "Flying TuRD" lol

I usually pronounce it as "Tea Are Dee" makes my life easier
