Tire blow out

So I was driving down the road today and heard a big KABOOM.....I pulled into a bank parking lot and hear a hissing sound.....I blew a left rear tire, not just a screw or leak....big blow out about the size of an oreo cookie just inside of center tread....Im runnin 315 Sumos, and tire pressures were ok so i don't know....it just happened to blow out infront of a discount tire direct store, makes me wonder .....They said tuesday until they can get the tire so I'm rockin the spare til then.....I'll take some pics and post when I can

They suck, it sounds like a gun shot basically.......My spare was 15 psi low haha, but they filled it for me and checked the rest of my tires to make sure they were ok......i felt bad going to a discount tire direct because we had to order the tire from Tire Rack, lol....he still gave me a deal with the shipping and even the mounting and balancing, so I would def go back there again if need be.....

Re: Tire blow out

they are fun. when rears blow not so bad, when fronts go, total suckage. Cousin of mine had a front passenger blow out doing about 80ish on the freeway. Car instantly went sideways, as we are looking at the median he had the know how to floor it, bring the rear end out and basically putting us now going backwards, he then just applied light brake and coasted into the middle of the freeway.

Just thank your lucky star that it didn't do any damage to the sheet metal. I had a front tire let go at about 85 to 90 on my 93 Silverado show truck. I basically took out the wheel well inner fender and rolled the outer fender up like it was tin foil. The spinning steel belts ( oh yes the tread separated ) beat the Bejeesus out of everything. Luckily I was able to stop ok and change the tire for the spare but when I took the virtually new Pirelli (sp) back to Discount tire and asked to have the tire replaced and the damage repaired, I was told that they would replace the tire at no charge but I would have to contact the manufacturer for damages. I fought with those people for nearly two years and never got a dime. It cost me nearly $2000.00 to get the damage repaired so I'll never buy another Pirelli tire for anything I drive.
