Homemade supercharger?

Ok, this might sound completely crazy, but is there anyway you can create one? Like making or buying a belt driven air compressor, and with the touch of a button release the air and shoot it into your intake? Would this work? I'm not familiar with all the machinery, so any explanation would be great. Always up for learning something new

Well like I said, I don't know anything about this stuff. It was just a thought. Mind giving me some insight?

your standard air compressor can't handle the amount of speed it would need to spin to produce enough condensed air to make a difference? and any one that could would be too large to stuff in your engine bay. same reason why electric superchargers are a waste of money...there's a reason why the good stuff costs money

the problem with an m90 off of a GM is that it doesn't work out as well as an m90 from a ford...small build difference but enough that you spend more time making it work then it's worth when there's other roots styles out there like m112s

I heard that you could use a gas powered leaf blower to do that. I think it was hot rod magazine that did it to a vette a while back. Just get 4-6 leaf blowers and pipe them into the motor and there you have it. Just imagine the conversations you could have; "I've got a twin turbo Lamborghini." "Yeah well I've got a quadruple leaf blowered mustang." It would be epic!
