Saw this going thru the parking lot, Ive also seen others at the mall and even my apartment complex. Looks likes its reading plates

Maybe for repo purposes? I followed him for awhile and took alot of photos, I think I scared him but that was my goal

Those are tag plate readers. Looks like police to me, but may not be.

Welcome to the future boys and girls. I just worked on a ford crown Vic version of that type of police vehicle today. Those cameras read plates and check for warrants, outstanding tickets, lapsed registration and even go as far seeing if your delinquent on child support or surcharges per registered vehicle owner. Just seems unfair to me. What ever happened to being able to dodge the law just a little bit for fun ya know?

Still flaws with it, though.

Wanna hear about Camera intrusion???

Lady I worked with had a son.
Son lost license due to DUI.
Son still driving with suspended license.
Son coming north on US 1 in his Chevy.

Cops with Cameras at Dunlawten and US-1 not looking at tags but doing facial recognition on the drivers and doing instant checks. ( Remember, they do this at the Super Bowl & other big events)

Son is instantly caught and pulled over. One of the Cop's is one of our customers and knows Mom so calls her at work to see if she can pick up the car and not have to pay towing and impound fees. (Lucky there) I drove her down to pick up the car. Son went to jail.

All this was a few years ago. Talk about George Orwell being right. YES he was. Now with the facial recognition, Tag readers, Red Light Cameras, Speed Cameras and whatever else they have and use we don't stand a chance at all of haveing the fun with cars we did in the good old days.

It sounds like bull**** to me. I'm all about keeping bad people from doing bad things I.e. sex offenders , violent offenders and just plain messed up people but when we throw that much money at people not making the yellow light or coming to a complete stop is it really helping anyone other than the police officers? When was the last time you heard of someone being less reckless or careless because of a camera vs seeing an actual cop car.... Just my 2 cents

I'm with you Newline

If they spent as much on the thugs, sex offenders and crazy people as they do on traffic enforcement our country would be a much better place to live.

If they really want to do something worthwhile they need to get the idiots to stop texting while trying to drive down a public roadway.

People texting, Eating, Putting on makeup, Drinking, reading the newspaper, Reading the I-Pad, and doing everything else but paying attention to their driving are the biggest traffic dangers in the country, No, They worry more about someone going through a yellow light or doing 5 mph over the limit.

Do you notice most cops are out with their radar when people are either on the way to work or on the way home from work. Easy pickings to stop someone that they know will just pay the ticket because taking off of work to go to court is not an option.

That is one thing that irks me to no end is small town dickhead cops preying upon the hard working individuals going to and from work. I get off at 5AM and there are always tons of cops planted and shooting radar. I pulled up next to one the other day and just shook my head at him like "you're a worthless excuse for law enforcement"..... Money grubbing sacks!!!!!!!!!!

You can't blame the cop's

It is your city manager that give them the orders to steal the working peoples $$$$. The cop's have to do what they are told to do. If they want to really do some good at traffic enforcement they need to be at the "School Zones" to grab the idiots that speed through with no regard to the kid's walking to school. No, that won't happen because the people on their way to work are more easy to pick off.

I personally don't blame cops as a whole I just don't see the need to have a redundant system such as cameras at intersections. More accidents occur at the camera equipped intersections due to people seeing a yellow light that normally a person would drive through because they are goin to make through the intersection before red but they slam on their brakes an panic stop. It's just flawed

The big real life problem is this :::::::::::::::::::

I don't know about your area but around here they changed the yellow lights from 4 & 5 seconds down to two seconds so you can not even think about getting to the other side before you get your picture is taken. It is a very big problem and they know it but the people they rent the cameras from control the lights.

When you do get your ticket you have to appeal to a Nazi that gets paid by a percentage of the fine. If you appeal and lose he or she Nazi can double or triple the fine. ( What do you think they are gonna do???????)

It cost $100.00 for a lawyer but that is all it will cost and you will be found not guilty.

If you don't pay up they suspend your license.
