Exactly. Ford should make it a company-wide policy not to drill holes in any car or truck without the expressed permission of the new owner. They should continue providing license plate brackets with each car and truck (in those states that require a front plate), but each bracket should be labeled or tagged with the following statement:

"DEALERSHIPS, DO NOT PRE-INSTALL OR DRILL ANY HOLES IN THIS VEHICLE, FOR MOUNTING STATE LICENSE PLATES, WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE PURCHASING CUSTOMER."

My dealer asked me if I wanted the front plate installed and I said No so they handed me the keys and said have a good day. I have a hidden plate bracket from AM I am trying to install. The lower chin spoiler clips broke when I took it off so now I hav to get a new one to finish the install.

I went through hell trying to get my dealership to commit to not drilling my car, prior to delivery. The sales manager said, "We are required, by law, to provide mounting for the front plate." I told him, "Not according to Missouri state law, you aren't. As the vehicle owner, I am required to install a front plate when the car is licensed." Finally, I demanded that the car remain undrilled or I would let them eat it. The General Manager finally told the detail shop, "Do not drill holes in any Mustangs until further notice."

I have a STO N SHO from Mike's Performance. But, I have yet to display the plate, eventhough the mount is installed under the splitter lip.

It's not required here to have a front plate but if it were and they drilled through the front, I'd puke in their floor. For states who require it, the dealership should provide automatic front plates. Like what mike ordered from AM.

They've been so accustomed to automatically drilling ***** here, they think nobody should question it. Aftermarket tag mounting is becoming more and more desirable these days. Either the dealerships don't recognize that or they don't feel it's necessary to give their customers the courtesy of asking first. My old friend that recently bought a new DIB Shelby is driving around with a front tag screwed directly onto the white-striped fascia. Makes me sick to look at it. The butt ugly black wheels don't help in relieving my nausea either.

I even showed the dealer what I was going to do and the bracket and they had a Boss 302 sitting ready for delivery to the customer so they showed the new owner this option as well as a few other proud Mustang owners. The service department does not want to drill those holes either. I think they have sold a few of them for AM.

I just used a piece of 1/8" flat aluminum 3" wide and 8" long. Put a bend at 2" drilled holes then used my right angle drill to mount it under the facsia, then attached a plate bracket to it. Looks like the plates floatin on the bumper!

I had already received my STO N SHO bracket for the GT before it was delivered. Everyone thought it was a slick setup when I installed the mount at the dealership in 5 minutes. The plate is in the trunk and has been since I got the plate. My reply will be (if I get stopped) that I just cleaned the car and forgot to put it back on. Takes just seconds to slip it in and lock it. So far, local, county and state fuzz haven't caught on. If they do catch me and get picky, my plate is 1/2" above the state minimum of 8" ground clearance.

Can you slip a pair of drag radials under Ursula (for some bite) without him knowing it? Ursula is a screamer with too much power for primo traction out of the hole. If you can't take him, you'll ride his door so hard it'll make his butt pucker.

All right guys I was told Wednesday that the Mustang Club of America will be holding there yearly gathering on Memorial Day Weekend in Springfield IL. So do we want to join in with them and have a get together along with a few thousand other Stangs? Or do we want to have it just before or after the MCA?

Just thinking that lodging may be a significant concern, if we joined the flock. But, I'll do whatever our group thinks is best.

Ryan, Memorial Day is the 26th of May. My birthday is the 29th.

About 260 miles and a little less than 4 hours for me.
