Rice or nice?

I can't drive a Prius. I've worked on one unfortunately. And I couldn't tell if it was running or off. I'd press the ignition button, and nothing happened. Stupid hybrid system.

Rice or nice?

It took us 20mins to finally figure out, that it starts with the hybrid battery. It was the first one we had at the shop.

I don't see the point of hybrids. You can get the same or better mileage with a tiny turbo diesel that will last a crapton longer and way easier to maintain. My old boss has a 2006 Volvo with something like a 1.6L diesel in it and he has a few aftermarket mods and a mileage tune an he gets 60+ on the highway. No batteries, no craziness, says it is slow as hell accelerating but it will do 80mph on the highway just fine.

Amen. I have a buddy I just met at the hobby shop on base who drives a golf gti that replaced the turbo and it pulls so hard and still gets 30mpg average. Hybrids are for the birds. I don't want to get started on political aspects, so I'll just stop there.

Hmm...Volvo didnt have any diesels here for 2006...nor did we have a 1.6...and i dont believe that is on the list of under 25 years old and allowed in the US. Are you sure?

The hybrid gets more...lol, 2 more MPG per mile.

Hybrids are more for city mileage. For example, in a big city, like NYC, one will rarely exceed 25-30 MPH (especially with the new speed limits). So driving a hybrid which uses electricity (Fusion and Prius go to 47 MPH) to move around. While a diesel just emits fumes. Since we don't monitor the pollutants like over seas, the micro whatever's in the fumes come out.

I am not anti diesel, nor am I pro hybrid or per se, rather they each have their own place. I do agree we have an issue with our glamour of the hybrid. But like with our trains, it is much more efficient to use batteries and gas as regen along with every other source of power. Think Volt or Fisker Karma. It is the least popular of propulsion, but definitely the best way to go with our current infrastructure if one is going for minimizing fuel consumption. Especially the plug on models.

Buick is trying to appeal to the younger crowd. They don't seem to realize that you don't get ppl to buy your crap with stick on stuff. IMHO GM should have ****canned Buick because Buick=old fart car and made Pontiac the mid-tier brand. That would have also let them bring out the Trans Am as a special edition at some point if they wanted.

Buick should've hit the road and Pontiac should've stayed. The GTO and firebird are 10x better than anything Buicks made in ages.

In all honesty they really don't even need Buick even without having Pontiac. Ford got rid of Mercury as it was literally just rebadged Fords with a few extra options. Ford just make said options available on the Ford lineup and are now trying to re-vitalize Lincoln. If they are REALLY serious about Lincoln, they'll do the Mark IV on a S550 chassis with a twin turbo Eco6 making 500hp in front of the 10 speed auto.

Shouldn't it be a mark IX...
Kinda continuing where they left off.
I'd definitely look into buying one of those. With a detuned ford GT Eco.

I meant IX.... Mark 9. Lol. Yeah a de-tuned GT Eco would be a ballpark 500whp jobber.

Ford really is trying with Lincoln, they've got a completely new plan on the brand I know that. Navi is going to get redone to try to go after the Escalade again for real this time instead of just being a re-skinned Expy. Although the Escalade is really not anything more than a re-skinned Denali....

But yeah the Camaro and the CTSV are sharing the Alpha platform now, no reason the Mustang and a Lincoln like a new Mark IX couldn't share the S550.

If it actually happens they'll most likely have a base model similar to the ecoboost 4 in the S550. But they'll most likely crank out a few more horses out of it. Then the Eco 6 top dog. Maybe a mid level coyote? That would be a great line up. But the coyote probably won't happen if they decide to make the mark IX.

Only with six cylinders... The four bangers have two on each side. In high school, a girlfriend had a friend who had a boy friend.
He showed up to something in a F150 with those stupid badges, and I asked him if he did an engine swap. He said why, and I said well this truck originally came with a V8, and the stickers said it was a six. He explained that the package only had six, and then I explained what it actually means, and (indirectly) that he's an idiot.

If they released that car I might be in the market to see how much I could get for a good kidney... The S550 looks like it would flow REALLY well with the Lincoln theme they have going right now. Very swoopy and whatnot.
