What the hell is he smoking. $27k?! I would've been hard pressed to pay $7k for it... My paint costs more, and engine will be making more power and worth more money as well as a better sound system(I'm assuming this one) and pristine interior that isn't all weird and full aftermarket suspension and most all of the drivetrain.. On too of pretty much every bushing and piece that wears has been replaced during my rebuild... And I don't know if I could even get close to selling it for $10k if I ever wanted to sell it. Honestly I have no idea what my cars worth in all honesty.

Why is he asking so much for the car?

Yeaaaa that's what I was wondering...it has a v6 vin probably...that alone makes the car not worth ****. He will never sell that thing..I can buy a 2012 5.0 for that price.

I have only been subscribed for a few pages, but this thread is depressing me.

I'd say this is just as bad as letting them rot and rust, but at least these criminals (you'd have to be ON drugs, or selling them to ruin cars like this...) are putting money back into the economy.

No but like being realistic, would it be worth it as a DD for work? If what hes saying is true the engine has 36k on it and the body has 100k. My mustang has 140k on it. While his car is ugly af, i drive mostly at night at times when only me and a few cars are on the road. Ive also read it gets around 30mpg.

I actually like its look. Isn't as terrible as most civics.

For the right price I would DD it for sure.

That car gets worse mpg than a 2011+ v6. In this car, a 2011+ v8 will do better.

On the original car it came in, it was 22/25/29, at about 2600 lbs. Take that engine and put it in a heavier car, the lightest 92 DX was over 3200 lbs.

Plus, you have to hope it's a standard. I would never drive a rice mobile myself, but if your reason is to get fuel economy, then I would spend less money on a car that would get much better fuel economy.

Assuming that the driver was alright you can laugh all you want at the Camaro, but look at the Prius in the background.

I see. I tried to see find what the mpg for a Honda civic dx with gsr motor was but couldn't. Does this look like a better deal to you?

Ill try to find a rice car later. I saw a candy pink cadillac sitting on..24s? 28s? The other day lol.

They only get good mpg if you drive it below 40 mph. You defeat the purpose if you drive on the highway with it. You'll get better mileage out of a newer V6 on the highway than a Prius on the highway. Even a smart car will get about 30 mpg on the highway. It's all about weight and power and how you drive it

Yes the corolla, a family friend had one with 250k on the clock and still ran great before they traded for a new corolla. They said they averaged around 38mpg..that's pretty damn good.

My bad man haha. Them corollas though. We have a family friend who's still running his 98 to the ground. That little sucker won't give up and it gives him pretty decent mileage

My beater is a 01 Corolla 5sp that I bought for $1500. I drive it everyday on my 115 mile round trip commute. I get between 37-40 mpg doing 70-75 mph on the highway. I bought it knowing that the trans was on its way out so I had to replace the trans and put a new clutch in it. It runs great though. Has 187k miles on it right now.

I figured it out by finding out what the engine originally belonged to. I believe it was a 97 Integra, then searched the specs, then pulled the specs on that original Honda, and compared it. I'm not really into agriculture... (rice), I am just decent at researching and investigating.

If you want mileage, you can do what I did- 2000 Honda Insight. Best tank so far, 81 mpg, averaging 60+ beating the crap out of it. WAY different than the 2012 Mustang...lol

The Mustang has done it's best at +46 mpg averaging 63 mph over 440 miles, average city driving is 38-42, but it's not easy. High (85% engine load) load to speed, then 6th, extensive aero mods to it, kill switch, so on. The Insight has a little done to it, but you can beat and beat on it, and they are solid. I'd rather get weird looks in a 2000 Honda Insight than a rice cake- but everyone has their own opinion. If I'm going to look like a goof, I better be getting decent mileage!

(It does have a pretty sweet history, not just for FE, but for it's connection with the NSX, and S2000. The car mixes simplicity with technology that is advanced for today. Good wikipedia read.)

Rice outside, Stang in the corral

This at 60+ mpg:
2000 Insight Build Thread - Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum - EcoModder.com

This at 40:

Lol. My 5 speed, 163k, perfect mechanical condition was 3k. If you don't mind some work, you can get them for 2k, or maybe less. Avoid dealers, they STILL ask 7-13k for an okay one. Sweeten it up, and they sell great to those who know. If you find one, move. I don't want to hijack the thread, PM me if you do want to learn more. Doesn't get much better fuel economy wise.

But the Prius at speed still gets pretty wicked FE.
More data can be found here: Speed vs. MPG charts (post 'em if you got 'em) - Page 4 - Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum - EcoModder.com

haha, no way. Just learning a little bit from all the knowledge out there, and trying to help spread it.

When I was a punk, I always wanted to go fast and waste more and more money going fast. There was always a faster car, someone with more money, so on.

When I hit a hard time with an old janky car, I tried to drive easy and started getting decent mileage- long story short, years of learning about aero, engines, and physics gave me a new challenge. I've never gotten a ticket, it's ALWAYS A COMPETITION, and it's cheap to do, and the victory is saving money. I love racing, and burning rubber and petrol, but it's costly. Now, this makes just driving to work fun and challenging. Not for everyone, but it works for me.
