Police scanner?

Do those police radar scanners actually work? I'm just curious because I've been getting into some trouble and looking to stay out of it.

The best way to stay out of trouble is don't put yourself in it In the first place.

always remember you pay for what you get. the one I have lets me know of all the red light cameras, speed traps and any cops that are pointing there radar gun at me or have left there radar on. they don't let you know if a cop is around unless hes scanning... keep that in mind so just because your detector isn't beeping doesn't mean a cop isn't chillin down the road

I have wondered about this also. It would be nice to know where they are. How much is a good quality one?

only way you will know is if they left there **** on but other then that only if there pointing there gun at you or the car in front of you.... yah you can get jammers also but that will give them no reading so they will prob pull you over for that. if you get jammers you also get the detector and once the detector goes off and lets you know your being targeted you slow down and turn you jammers off so they can get a reading .... around 600 for a decent one

Meh...never saw the need. Borrowed a quality v1 for a few months and it never pointed out a cop before I saw it.

Most use lasers now..if you do buy one make sure it's for lasers too. But there is no need for one IMO. What's the rush? Slower you go, the longer you drive.

Radar Jammers are ILLEGAL. Radar Receivers (Detectors), depending on the State you live in, can be Legal or Illegal. Virginia comes to mind, not only will the issue you a citation but they will seize your Detector.

You talking about jammers or detectors? I'm positive jammers are illegal everywhere.

My State Patrol buddy showed me first hand that jammers are useless with their new setups. He came to speak one of our club meeting. A few people admitted they had jammers, his fancy new radar thingy ate right through it. Next we'll see an anti jammer-jammer i guess. The bottom line is save the racing for the track. Don't endanger my family and I promise not endanger yours.

They don't even really use radar anymore. They use laser. As soon as they point and click at you your busted. The only way you would know they have one is if they are targeting other people also.

My radar is awesome...It has saved me going 10-15 over a few times. It picks up cops from so far away and I only spent 100 bucks on it.

Yeah mine came with a jammers. Perhaps when the guy bought it new in 2002, it was effective. But now the cops just laugh, and slap the cuffs on you. Also, they are in fact illegal under federal law, attached is a pic and short summary.

Most have gone to encrypting their signals these days - you might still be able to listen in on police convos in a podunk town that hasn't gone the encryption route though. Google "police scanner encrypted" for more details on the various encryption methods, etc.

He was talking about radar detectors. For listening in several places are available on scanner apps. The ones that aren't I use my trunking scanner and program them in.
