We have a program here that is one year for medic school. It is pretty much like a full time job, it's the whole year. You're crammed with info the first 1/3 of the year then the second third is Clinicals with more info, and then the third is when you actually lead calls and relearn all your info.

Really? My EMT was 140 class hours and 10 clinicals and 36 hours ride alongs. And I AMT is 120 hours and 24 hours of clinicals and 48 hours of ride alongs. And then we have a 6 mounth crash course for pareamedic

I went through first responder and Emt first of course. They were both each a semester and didn't require any Clinicals or ride alongs. I think it has all changed though due to the advanced Emt being introduced.

I am a controls Designer. I program at the auto plants. If you have ever seen a video where the robots are building cars, welding, etc. I program all that stuff and get to see the cars before they are released Unfortunately haven't been in a ford plant yet. Currently working on the new Mercedes Benz C class .

Yeah, I have the post 9-11 GI Bill from my 8 years in the USAF so I will be using that as soon as my current contract expires. Some times I wish I would have been motivated enough to go to college straight from high school. However, I have 102 college credits done and have been to 16 countries in the last two years so I can't really complain.

It's a job. Not a lifestyle. Most of the public only sees the traffic end of things. The nasty pig giving out a ticket. They don't see us having to deal with domestic issues which can go south rapidly, fighting a man strung out on heroin, armed robberies in progress. Things like that. So thanks for your kind words. Typically it's a very thankless job.
