Common interest has nothing to do with tech which is why they get moved to "The Bar" or "GMD" . If the people who post here would explore the forum as a whole and review the posting rules for tech then not many threads would be moved.

Here is an idea for anyone that wants to listen.......
Let's say you own a 1999-2004 Mustang. This doesn't mean that you post every question about your car in that section just because you own that year. Its a tech section (review tech posting rules) only. If you want to ask what exhaust sounds the best, what spoiler should I buy or what paint color should go with....well.......that belongs in one of the other sections. Asking what color you should paint your car isn't tech. These are the rules that are put in place to help this forum run smooth. There are a few that don't like it that way but those few don't make the rules. Do you run a stop sign, get pulled over and say,"I don't think I should have to stop there"? No...you get a ticket. It's really quite simple.

I will tell you your ideas will make folks go back to the other forums. You had a great place and are making bad changes. TEK is what is my tune for my specific car
TEK is what gear work in my specific car?
TEK is what does my specific ECU do?
TEK is how do I pull a fuse to relearn my Trans SHift Points?
TEK is how do I pull out my V6 and put in a 5.4?

Sorry I don't agree on your definition of TEK,

TO me TK is like they did on Loppers

Whats the big deal about moving the threads to the right place. All they are trying to do is keep it organized and to be able to find threads when you search for them. A

Exactly....this forum was turning into just that. Ever since we got the phone app there has been a huge amount of younger members (just like allfordmustangs) signing up and posting anything anywhere they want and acting childish with bickering back and forth with off topic posts in other peoples threads. There is nothing wrong with younger members because that's where it all starts and thats where we learn. Only problem is that there is no organization and when you set some rules in place some of those younger members act like they shouldn't have to follow those rules. Not every young member is like that though. Perfect example,Soccerluvr4. He is very young and never acted childish which is why he is a staff member now. Those rules weed out the kids or adults that think they can come in here and do whatever they want anytime they want. If you aren't one of those childish people you to will stick around and enjoy a quality forum instead of a quantity forum.

I just always use the "timeline" so I can see all the new posts. And you can read what "section" that thread is in right there. Way easier lol

Here is how I have seen it. A person asks advice about a particular car.

In the past, it was based on generation and/or engine in how the forums were setup for "TEK". So a person asking about a mod for a 2004 Edge was not getting advice from a person with a 84 Fox.

With things going on now into the Thunderdome , folks with advice that posters only have 4K into a car are different than folks with 30K into a car.

Before it was not noticed so much but now with the new Mix folks are not even aware they are telling someone with a 8 month old $30K car to take their car to a transmission shop to get a gear change for cheap for $300.

I always hit the "new posts" option at the top of the page. This way I can see all the new posts in every section. A lot of people just go to their year of vehicle section and post everything there. I doubt that any new members review posting rules or even browse the forum as a whole. Jeez.....some members don't even know that we have a "pictures and video" section.

I like the new tech rules, they make sense to me. Without them the GMD doesn't really have a place if people are just posting "What's a ghost cam tune" in any 94'-14' section. That's a general Mustang topic because the ghost cam tune is available on multiple generations of Mustangs, not just the 05'-09' for example.

People tend to post in the same section as their car year that's in their driveway, no matter what topic.

Well there you go...another issue with posting. People will start threads with a thread topic like, "WTF" Then their question is, "Why is my car overheating"? NO info except that? That's why it can't be answered properly. If you want to be pro active about it then show them how to start a proper thread that will get them the answers they need. Usually when a mod tries to do this to a new member in a thread another regular member we come along and say, "Why does it matter where they post it blah, blah, blah" THIS just starts the bickering I was speaking about earlier and gives no help to the new member. I've seen it a million times.
