Without going through a site, such as the bay, it becomes a honor system. I'm on a forum where I've sols many things, and high dollar things, but I always see that the user has been involved in transactions before, and isn't just a fly by night member, never to be seen again. I also get paid ( via paypal gift ) prior to sending a thing out.

Yea use paypal, also what you could do is make a eBay post for the item and make him buy it through there.

Well I posted a for sale ad on the corral. And some guy said he would give me 30 bucks shipped for my new bushings.

So what do I PM him? What do I say?

You can list what you are selling on Paypall as a form of a contract.

Basically, you would get his email address, and log into your paypal account, click the request money tab and go from there.

That method works perfectly too To add to this, if he sends it to your email address in this manner, have him check that its money being sent to friends or family and the 3% fee will not happen to you.

Either way, just don't ship it til you have the money in your paypal account. Bottom line.

A couple of things when selling and using Paypal. First, PayPal is the best for selling and buying, as both the seller and buyer are protected. Second, be aware that as the seller, PayPal with charge you a percentage fee (it's somthing like 3 to 4 percent), so if this bothers you, add this percentage to the selling price. PayPal will send you, the seller, the address of the buyer, assuming the buyer is a PayPal member. To be safe, as a buyer using PayPal, I always send my "ship to" address to the seller in a PM.

One last thing. If you ever sell or buy items using PayPal, never accept, or ask for a Paypal payment as "a gift". A buyer can send you money as "a gift", and this avoids the 3 to 4 percent charge to the seller. However, it makes it real hard to file a despute with PayPal (i.E. item is never sent, or the goods were damaged by shipping), as PayPal will simply see that money was sent "as a gift", which to them means no items transpired between two individuals.

I'd go to fedex. From my experience they ship for cheaper but I would just go in & have them do it! Then get the confirmation # & send it to the buyer!

Well I only had a gram scale (lol) but it weighed out to 271.3 grams or 9.569 ounces for JUST the bushings no package or anything. Is it gonna be cheaper to ship USPS, fedex or ups? (I'm googling this but want personal experiences)

I ship constantly my friend, and at that weight, USPS is always the winner. Buy your postage online, print your own shipping label and it saves you a few pennies too.

Something at that weight, when I run an auction, I always charge a flat rate of $6.00 to anywhere in the upper 48 states. Always covers the freight, box, packing, and a little change to spare which helps offset the 3% paypal fees.

Cool, when you get a chance look at both the Ebay and Paypal common scams sections at those sites. I'm sure your guy is good but often folks will take advantage. However once that Nigerian Prince gets his $ I'm gonna be rich!

Ah ok I've never shipped anything that small. All the quotes I've gotten have been for 20lbs+ & custom boxes & FedEx was the cheapest! (Just FYI for next time)

Alright so I sold it and Google told me usps is the best for small items lol. And it cost me like 2 or 3 bucks to ship (receipt is in car) so it was cheap.

So like 4 bucks after Paypal fee and shipping fee. Now I know. All in all it wasn't too bad and now I have an idea of how much something will cost to ship is i decide to do it again.

Thanks for the help everyone!!

NP man. It's kind of scary at 1st but once u do it 1 time it's the same basically! I always go the fedex/ups/usps to get quotes before I give a price shipped unless it's something small.
