insurance rates depend on a lot of things.
-what is your deductable? the higher the decutable, the lower the rates. i only have a $100 deductable, thats why mine is a little higher than average.

-also, the land value of the city in which the car is registered/your home town plays a large part. it seems that the "richer" parts of town seem to have nicer cars, and are more prone to getting them stolen than the "poorer" parts of town. the land value of my home is very high, but when i moved to school, the value dropped by about half to three times. that lowered my insurance alone about $75/month

-do you have any other insurance policies with the same agent? you say you are on your parents account and they have home owners insurance with them. what about life insurance? the more accounts you have with the same person, the more each one gets discounted.

-how often do you drive your car? you could get it as a "weekend" car if you drive less than 6000-8000mi/yr (depends where you live) that will lower the rates of your car too.

-talk to your parents. if they drive something like a volvo or other safer type car, or 4dr type car, have them become the chief driver on the mustang, and you take chief driver on the family type car. a 2dr "sports type" car for an under 25yr male is really high. it would be about 75% as high if you had a 4dr or a model known for safety

just a few suggestions for ya

Uhhh...it'll be 3200 a year for FULL COVERAGE and I'm 16.

Start driving in January. And my friend James is trying to get my a job that'll pay 325 bucks every 2 weeks. Enough to make a car payment, insurance, and have about 2 grand left over.

185/month, 24 years old, 1 accident, 1 speeding ticket, 1 obstruction-windshield ticket (don't ask)

If I hadn't been on my parents' plan when I was 19 and the stang was brand new, I would've paid ~250/month (if I recall correctly. I don't remember if it was 3000/year or 3000/6 mo.s, but it was more than I wanted to pay )

The Mustang is $65 a month and the SS is $73 a month, both full coverage. Reason its so cheap is because I am not rated on either cars, my dad is, but I am on the policy as a driver of both cars. We also have 6 cars on the policy and my friend is our agent so that kinda helps. If I ever move out which I plan on doing in August, I'm screwed.
