hate when people harass me for going 'slow'

I did get a ticket recently (my first speeding ticket ever at age 27) and it really screwed my whole life over, but one thing that makes me pissed is when I'm driving (i usually go 1-3 above speed limit) but i frequently get someone who rides super close behind me like im going too slow or something, and its really intimidating and frustrating. what do you do for that? they want me to go faster when im already going 1-3 mph over the limit, I wish i could be like "if you pay for my tickets + insurance I will go whatever speed you want me to!"

Some people say "brake check" them, but then my insurance will go up even more + i don't want to damage my car :/

Don't brake check them, just let off the gas and poke along at a slower speed. People end up getting ticked off enough to blow past me or back off. If I see them back off then I'll speed back up

So, if the speed limit is 55 mph you travel 57 mph. Please tell me your not in the left lane!

Nah that's for passing, I was mostly talking about roads that only have one lane for each side of traffic - otherwise obviously the person would pass me

Lol

And yes, speeding is not worth it, since my ticket I have been very careful and always cruise at the limit, I usually don't speed but the day I got the ticket I was having a very bad day and I floored it on a clear path but then a cop came out of nowhere!

Dang that sucks! Have you tried to fight it? I wouldn't think one at 27 would kill your insurance too much.

I am not advocating habitual speeding, but have been thru what happened to you 40 years ago the first real mod I did was buy a Escort Passport GPS model when I got my mustang. Yes I had cheap Cobra detectors, all false alarm on every drug store and stuff they are worthless.

The Escorts with GPS are hands down the best. They learn where you drive and measure locations and exact frequency of false alarms. You go past a false alarm it blocks it out. If a sneaky trap is setup by the false alarm drug store, the Escort still goes off,as the speed radar is a slightly different frequency than the drug stores. So no more worrying about the speed trap next to Wall-greens.

If you know the first time its false, you press a button and its locked out from now on. It also warns of "Speed Camera Ahead" the lady says while an arrow points to it. You can also use smart phones with maps that show you where other users have spotted speed trap.

Laser is another issue, usually if laser goes off, they got you if you were over, but once it bounced off the side of a truck around a curve and it told me a laser trap was ahead. One laser trap area I know of (and you cam hit the mark button to have the Escort remind you the next time, "Speed Trap Ahead") I was the lead car in the pack and I noticed I needed to slow down about 4mph. The Laser hit me, I was leave speed. He must not have liked that cause he hit my license plate 2 more times to make sure ! The phone apps will work to alert you when other users with Escort/PHone apps get shot with laser, it marks the cell phone app and the cell phone will tell you of a trap, or you can see the traps on a map. Group based dispersed detections into a meshed net !

These things are not for use to speed, but to warn you to check and make sure you are not when alerted of a trap. Traps are how cities and states make lots of money.

Now you gota pony up about $450 for these things, but the better peace of mind was worth and and thats just bearly the tip of the costs of the second ticket will cost over the long run.

here is the one I got, I like the blue leds since the blue car

Also here is their newest best unit

Meh. You can ride my butt all day. Something out the window generally helps them back off.

I'm actually starting to enjoy tailgaters myself. I always drive about 5 over and there isn't any freeways around here. So when somebody get on my bumper I go down to speed limit and wait for them to pass, then right when they start to hit the left lane I hit the gas. Talking about making people mad. But usually after that they get the hint and back up, if not I go a little under speed limit and repeat.

With the crazy people out there nowadays, you don't want to get yourself into a road-rage incident. You can get a ticket for that also, and I'm sure the fine and points would be more than a simple speeding ticket.

Remember also, you are driving cars that are easily recognized. Not just for law enforcement, but for the people you are messing with also.

I understand that more than you know. I have had a family member die in a vehicle accident. I live in a very low populated area, I only speed up in places that are open. I don't like to speed by houses especially places where I know kids live. But if I can speed a little in a safe spot to keep a moron from speeding everywhere, I will. And yeah my car is the only one like it around, but thankfully I havent had to call the insurance company yet.

If that was your first ticket and you say that it really "screwed up your whole life", just how fast and how much was your ticket?

People consistantly prove they do what they want when they want regardless of any law.

Regardless of law, I agree. Move over. Live to drive another day. You usually never see that person again and it is a dead issue versus beating them senseless and being aggrivated for days/weeks or in prison.

Now, I have been more than guilty my share of times of reacting to perceived injustices in manners arguably worse than the crime. In the end, I feel ridiculous and embarrassed.

Love it, makes my day every time that happens. Have these tailgaters all the time on the highway. It's like everyone assumes since your driving a faster car you should always be speeding. My car is loud as well so I love to see the look on peoples faces when they ride my *** and go to cut me off and I down shift and go. Priceless!

I also speed up when someone tries to pass. I'm kind of an a-hole like that. Then again I'm also a habitual speeder although I am cautious about it because I do drive for a living too.
