mental speed secret applications

While waiting in the staging lanes several of us got to talking. What we came up with was 100% agreed on. A just washed car is always faster and quicker than a dirty car. If it's just been waxed it's even faster and quicker! Some polishes are better than others but we didn't want to get to specific's with speed secrets. A well placed aftermarket race decal is worth at least 1/2 a tenth on the track. A visual race car signature, priceless. A car body attached video camera is also worth a possible tenth. One must record the impossible. Removing the antenna adds at least 1mph. Proven on the space shuttle. Any device that increases the loudness of the vehicle is automatically an increase in horsepower. Hey, you can here it. What else could it be? Any air cleaner other than stock is instant horsepower. Hey, you can see it! Last, any head wind moving the flag is killing your record run. Feel free to add your mental speed secrets but, be honest!

This information is SOOOOOOO TRUE.

You did leave out one very important speed secret,
Fill all tires with "Helium" It will make the whole car much lighter and much faster.

Ronnie! What an oversight. 1000 pardons. The HELIUM, of course. We all know that a close pinned baseball card worked wonders on a bicycle spoke. Instant bad ***. Somehow this evolves to fart mufflers about the age of 18.

Wow, I forgot about that.

It is a known fact that "RED" cars are always the fastest no matter what brand of car it is.
I don't understand how I could have forgot that. See, We are all learning from this post.
Thank You,
Ronnie

I knew my car was faster than I originally thought for a good reason!

I heard that by adding racing stripes on also helps out dramatically. Lol

I personally have found a sure fire way of increasing HP and cars acceleration is using plasti dip. It easily adds 10 to 15 rwhp and takes a good 1/10 tenth off your 1/4 mile due to its rubber like properties.

RED is definitely the fasted color. Maybe that huge tall rear wing a lot of the ricers have is something worth a government grant study. And those wheels and tires that stick way out of the wheel well. That's got to be down force on some planet. I know I'm in good company when the other guy says it "felt" quicker than my time slip says! It's all about that FEELING! Even a new shifter knob changes the whole car. Much quicker.

This was recently confirmed to be true. I used to be completely anti-plasti dip because I just thought it was just so cheap and looked so ghetto especially when sprayed over great looking factory rims but I was wrong. I'd definitely recommend the great gift of god of "plasti dip" to anyone.

And "Race Red" is good for 1/10 more in the quarter mile...

Painting the calipers red will increase stoping distances of at least 5 feet too...

Yes, since red is a HOT color, it'll take longer for brakes to stop.
You can paint them blue, and they'll stop faster, but you sacrifice HP

I think you guys forgot the san francisco bridge like spoiler adds at least some 30+ HP and the wind that pushes the car down because of the spoiler makes the power be put down to the ground better

I think you are on to something here I'm gonna combine this idea with the plasti-dip idea and spray my intake blue......I figure the blue color with the insulating properties of dip will make the intake temps 40 deg cooler than ambient temp.

this forum rocks............

And taping a pointy cone to the front center of the bumper will aid in aerodynamics, increasing speed by 2 tenths.

Well, I just red what makes the new Z28 so fast

They now only have the outline of the Bow Tie emblem on the grill They said when it was a solid piece it acted like an air brake and slowed the car down at high speeds. They hollowed out the center to let air through and now the car is way,way faster then before. I guess it took some weight off too.
I guess a Mustang GT has a big problem with the lights in the grill as well as a horse emblem.
Bucko is probably right when he said:::
Quote:

The cone would put the air flow easily around the car making it way faster. I would think it would be more then 2 1/10's though.

I love this POST, I'm learning a whole lot and if I ever go back to tracking or racing, I will be unstoppable.

Were going to need a disclaimer here. If someone were to incorporate all this mental technology all at one time the results could be catastrophic. Some guys hood decal could fly off at some ungodly mph, enter an open window and blind him causing a serious parking lot wreck! I've got to order some new green tire fill caps so everyone thinks I have nitro in my tires.

You sure are right there Black 12

A disclaimer would make us all much safer. With the added horsepower some of these mods will give, It is impossible to not try to use it all at once. A disclaimer would keep us all in check and not do stupid things with all of our added horsepower.

Don't forget the double spoiler, this guy said he's finally getting all 25 of his horses planted firmly on the ground.
