Nothing to do with mustangs! Still ford though

I have a little 94 escort wagon that I picked up for commuting. The 50 doesn't like sitting in traffic, it just turned 80k and I want to do some mild performance upgrades. Does any one have a good idea on how to get some extra ponys? I was thinking bigger throttle body, and injectors for a start. I don't want to put that nasty exhaust on it or anything. Don't want it sounding like a fart car or a ricer. Just want a lil sleeper and good commuter. Any input is appreciated

Not to familiar with these motors but most likely the tb will not get you any where. And injectors not sure about, does the car really need more fuel? And usually when upgrading injectors you must get a matching maf. Is it obd1 or obd2?

It's obd1. And the maf was another thing I meant to list. I'm not looking for any crazy hp increase you know. Just a little extra something. It does have a chip in it right now, power wise I don't see much but fuel economy I have. 2-4 mpg increase. And that's kind of why I'm asking. Like I said I'm not trying to build a race car, just looking for a little extra. Mines a 1.9L sefi, folks were talkin about cosworth parts swaps but then others said they won't fit properly. The car stock is actually pretty impressive for what it is and especially considering it's a wagon. At the end of the day I'm always looking for just a little extra power

And I wouldn't necessarily say it needs just more fuel, but if a heavier fuel delivery system and more air it should see some results correct?

Oooo god a chip in it? If it's one of those eBay chips I would remove immediately. If it's really any chip you won't see much out of them cause there not that great. Not exactly sure about these cars, there is always cai but won't see much there. You could try throwing some basic boltons at it and see what happens. Honestly I would save your money and put it towards the stang lol

Haha yeah I hear it. Like I said I was just looking for some upgrades like injectors and maf out of another car that's compatible with my engine just a lil higher performance. And no it's not an ebay chip haha, can't think of the name off the top of my head. That's what a lot of people have said but when I was driving strictly freeway miles I did two tanks of fuel with it. And two without it. With it in the highest I saw was 36, but a consistent 31-2. Without it 27-30. Didn't get anymore than 30. Soooo, that's why it's still in the car, like I said performance wise I can't feel anything but I also got the chip for the fuel economy and it actually worked. I unno, I guess I was looking for some answers like "yeah pull em out of a ranger" or something along those lines. I'm not planning on buying all new parts.

Cool air intake I guess will probably be the first thing I throw on. And that will probably be the only thing I put on that's brand new. Like I said, it's just a commuter, but I still like zippin around in it so anything helps.

Yea that might be possible, I would look to see of you could find a forum of escort owners. They must know some cheap and easy mods for these cars.

Yeah this has been a great forum for my mustang. And I saw they had an off topic category, figured I'd give it a shot. I'm at work kind of going through my car and checking everything out and got a wild hair to make it a little faster. Haha thanks for the info though bud. Appreciate it

The other thing about a forum like that is it's a bunch of dudes who love ricers, sometimes they're hard to communicate with. I don't have anything against them they just tend to like to talk shot to muscle car owners

---------- Post added at 11:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:41 PM ----------

No doubt. Thanks again
