Pulled Over Tonight But I Deserved It...

Ok karma almost bit me on the *** tonight. I got pulled over for not signaling on a right turn, turning wide (which is a dumb law really), and accelerating fast.

But I didn't get a ticket. When asked why I gunned it I just said I apologize I was just a little too spirited in my driving.

He asked where I was coming from and I said I just had coffee with a friend at Starbucks and am just on my way home which is right there behind that wall.

He said "hahaha so that caffeine's the reason you were driving this way huh?"

I said, "Sir, I really wish I could blame it on coffee but truth is I was just a little too spirited. I just love my car is all"

He laughed and said, "yeah your car looks and sounds real nice. Sit tight I'm gonna run your license and get you on your way with a warning."

First actually cool conversation I've had with cops. I still gave him proper respect same as I would to other cops that maybe dbags. Only difference is now I not only respect him but I feel good bout respecting him and other cops in the future.

Great job on the interaction part copper!

His generous gesture might actually slow you down in the future due to your respect for the way he treated you. More officers should take that approach.

They're out there!
I met one a couple of weeks ago and he seemed like one of the nicest guys that I have met in a while. Very pleasant and polite!
I wondered if maybe he forgot that he was at work that day and was just being himself...

I still got the ticket though. (Motorcycle cop)

It really does go a long ways when they are nice, respectful, and not condescending while issuing the traffic violation.
I'll bet that guy gets much less attitude, from the people that he pulls over, than your average motorcycle cop...

It can also be said that the person pulled over can use this example on how to treat a law officer. Honesty goes a long way, along with manners and acceptance of doing something wrong. Kudos to the OP.

I have a few friends that are cops. They deal with a lot of bs from people. I'm sure he appreciated your honesty and courtesy.

Have not be pulled over as my car is mostly stock. However, I am looking to address some stock issues and intend to be pulled over shortly.
