Radar Detectors

I figured, since soly but surly I'm making my car a little faster, I figured I should get one. For 68 bucks, if it even saved me from one ticket it would have paid for itself.

I went ahead and got this unit. Anyone see something wrong with this particular detector? Is this particular unit worth the price?

Seems like a great deal. I've been running a cobra detector for about 7 years now, and it seems to work perfectly, so a newer model should be even better!

I think I paid $140 for it at a truckstop in Erie Pa. They took my SSN when I bought it, I still cant figure that one out.

my happy lil radar detector saved me many-a-times.
best investment Ive made.

and I heard a commercial on the radio for a radar detector that sends out a signal that 'confuses' police radar guns and guarentees that you will not got a ticket, if you do they will pay it.

I read that one too. It's a jammer. But if the cops catch you having one, I wouldnt want to find out what they will do to you

You technically can fight that. In tech school (USAF - Biloxi : Radar) the urban legend was about the FCC's ruling stating that any radiated signal within certain parameters you were given the freedom to transmit and intercept. These frequencies covered the bands that cops use on their radar guns, thereby making it LEGAL in all 50 states to use radar detectors and radar jammers.

However, I have never heard of anyone successfully winning in court on a charge of using a detector in a state that outlaws them.

some Information

WTF?!?!?

from the above link "Seven states--California, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont and Virginia-and the District of Columbia have statutes barring the use of scanners in committing a crime"

So, if you are going to commit a crime, don't use a police scanner or else??
