Deer Hunting

Good luck to all those heading out to the woods this weekend for the gun deer season. Wisconsin starts tomorrow and runs for nine days, maybe some other states are the same. Let's see your pictures if you get something.

I shot it at 8:30am. I gutted it out and after I started dragging it the rain started. And then poured. I was pretty wet by the time I got it back to the truck, and the trail got quite muddy. I was done for the day. They gave me a bonus buck tag for the southern farmland zone to be used on my remaining antlerless tag so I can shoot either or, but just one more deer. Not sure if I will be able to get back out, though.

I'm in new Hampshire, but earlier this month I was on a hunting trip with my father and grandfather. we got quite a few partridge and we were lucky enough to get a cow moose. The moose was shot my me on my grandfather permit in zone 1 in northern Maine.

Nice! I like to watch Northwoods Law. They had an episode about deer hunting recently. In Maine you only get one deer tag, and you have to be the person to fill your tag. Once you do, you can no longer hunt. They said they don't have enough deer in Maine for hunters to get more than one tag, or for a hunter to fill another's tag. First, that surprised me that Maine doesn't have that many deer? Also, what do you do once you fill your tag, go home and leave your buddies out in the woods? In Wisconsin, you can fill other people's tags as long as you are within calling distance. Did I understand that episode correctly?

You can no longer deer hunt you can keep hunting for other game.. Its not legal to fill a friends tag but honestly nobody questions who took the shot.. So unless a warden sees you shoot a deer and fill a friends tag you should be fine.. There are alot of deer in southern maine but northern Maines winters can be to harsh and hard on the deer population..
