The new Ford GT

Source: Ford GT: This Is It

" Ford did it. They actually went and did it. It's been*rumored about*and*speculated on*for months, but now we know it's real. This is it: the new Ford GT. Ford just dropped a bomb on the rest of the world, and it's got a 600 HP twin-turbo V6, if you can believe it.*"

More to come when I get to NAIAS.

TT V6s are becoming a popular option..... But what doesn't make sense to me is that in the past the Ford GT used the same 5.4 4v as the GT500 (small differences, but overall it was the same type of engine). So now that the GT350 is using the 5.2 it would have made sense to put the 5.2 into the Ford GT also. I hope they maybe make an option for it.

No doubt the TT 3.5 V6 will be a good motor at 600 horsepower, but i just think they should also put in a V8 option.

Their goal is to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of whooping Ferrari- most of the leagues run a 4.0 max. They need something this small to be able to compete.

I don't know much about the racing, but I keep hear A Ford wants to race, and B lots of restrictions on engine size. No top secret information, just deduction.

They haven't officially said they want to go back into LeMans. But all the signs are pointing toward that.

Unfortunately I don't have an official press release to support that. In due time

Forgot to post these...sorry for the small size, when my dSLR wirelessly transfers to my mobile, the images go from ~16mb to about 2. Just scrolled through my gallery, sorry only 1, I just realized I only pulled photos of my father and I. Will have to upload more.

Every year. I made a thread of the 2015 Mustang with tons of images last year, but NO ONE cared, so I don't really bother posting too much stuff here. NAIAS is worth the six hour drive. Eh, more like eight. Still worth it.

The ford gt is priced at $400,000

Ford’s new supercar will come with a supersize price.

Ford Performance director Dave Perciak confirmed at the Geneva Auto Show today that the mid-engine coupe will cost about the same as a Lamborghini Aventador, roughly $400,000.

That would make the 600 hp two-seater the most expensive vehicle Ford has ever made by a wide margin. Its predecessor, the 2005 Ford GT sold for $150,000.

Ford made 4,038 of those over two model years, but Pericak says it’ll only build about 250 of the new GTs each year.

The car, which features a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 and carbon fiber chassis will be manufactured for Ford by Canadian racing specialist Multimatic Motorsports beginning in late 2016.

I'll take this over anything in Europe besides the 918...
400 grand is a little much, but I guess they are using the most extreme version of carbon fiber on the car...

Meh, spread over 50 years, we should be able to make the payments.

Now to find a bank that will float me a 50 year mortgage for this car!

When Ford built the GT in 2005, they based it on the GT40 Mk I. Here was Ford's best car ever, the Ford Mk IV. It's 220+ mph speed on the Mulsanne straight at LeMans stood for many years. They only built six in 1967. Replicas are available today for about $250K. I'd take one of these over the new one.

The MK I was the small block variant, MK II was the 427 variant, MK III was the street legal 289cu in small block 335hp, the MK IV use the MK II 427 with a more areo body thus achieving a high top speed. Unfortunately, with the power produced from the 427, it put a strain on the chassis and put the driver at risk. So they put a roll cage in them, making them 600lbs heavier than their Ferrari competitors. If it wasn't for the roll cage Mario Andretti might not be alive...

I remember when it happened. Sure put a damper on Foyt/Gurney's win. Was there in person two years later when Ford made it four in a row.

Well, the LFA was 350k...and I believe they made a lot more. Is this 50k better? I mean the LFA is supposed to be incredible, but it is FR. At least this MR, and not trying to be a troll, but j would have liked to see it as a hybrid as AWD, electric on the front. I wouldn't buy one if I had the money...but I don't think it is a total rip off.
