Real tough guy. Bragged about burnouts and crap like that and tried to whine his way out of tickets by stating to the cops that it couldn't have been him because his was only a V6. Karma's a b1tch.

I'm guessing more like crushed. It's an old article but they have been cracking down on the side shows big time in Los Angeles where he is at. They won't go easy.

Sadly the same type of thing is starting in my town also. There was a big thing on the news about it.

If you watch the video the spots they show people were doing the donuts at, i recognize just by seeing it, don't even need to look at a map. And that is a really busy highway also, its almost never empty, even at night. The ones they show in the video, apparently afterward there was indeed a crash, and a fox body ran from the police. I actually saw the dude talk about how he was the one who ran from the police in a closed Facebook group, so i took a screen shot and i'm tempted to bring it to one of my best friend's dad who happens to be a CHP officer.

I don't think that they can do that anymore. I believe that the courts ruled that it was not legal.
And they were only crushing cars that were illegally modified and that had problems with VIN numbers and such.
Also, I doubt that Rush paid cash for the car, so the lienholder would want the car back after a few missed payments... So that would be a point of legal contention.

That "car crushing" had the desired effect though. People are still talking about it 8 years later.

"Don't be a snitch" is one of the dumbest things I ever hear on the Internet. If they were doing the donuts in the middle of nowhere I wouldn't care. But they are doing it dangerously affecting other people on the road and also letting the police generalize us as a whole. I could care less if I'm a "snitch" if it helps them stop that crap.

This isn't middle school where you get teased for telling. If you want respect from the police, you have to show it also.

It doesn't make a difference who the lienholder is. Everyday vehicles are taken by the CBP and sold at auctions. The lienholder still has the right to come after you. Some companies (banks and credit unions) used to get their cars back and return them to the owners. Once the agencies found out, they quit giving them back, got a duplicate title and hauled them off to the auction. The Good News, you still had to pay for the vehicle.

Snitching? Or reporting a crime that hasn't killed anyone YET, and could save a life. I guess 1-800-GRAB-DUI is a hot button with you. 30 years ago it was just a "Be careful and drive safe...keep your windows down!" But enough people have been killed to start curving it.

I don't know much about the laws in cali, other than the LESA protects my right to a side arm. THOUGH, I imagine looking at your cats the wrong way in cali is illegal, probably common modifications we make- let alone the mods avid street racers apply.

Theres a big difference between fishtailing and running from the cops. What if some one was running from the cops ran a red light and killed your mom and the guy got away. Wouldn't you want to know who killed your mom? Theres nothing wrong with that. And like Andrew said theres nothing wrong with having fun in your car as long as you don't put helpless people at risk.

There is a difference between just a quick burst of speed and intentionally shutting down a busy highway to do donuts. Understand the difference because it's the difference between simple tickets and a civilian not able to react and slamming into the back of the cars stopped because of the side show.

"Snitching" is what middle schoolers do. Reporting a dangerous crime is what a concerned citizen does.

Agreed! Losing traction and being involved in/around an accident then fleeing from the police is essentially the same thing. /sarcasm

It's all good with most people to drive like d***s until they have babies. Then you wonder why people can drive like that when you have an infant with you.
Then when you know someone or one of your own family is killed by someone driving bad. Your perspective changes even more.
If your carrer involves having to look at mangled bodies in car crashes. You become a safety fanatic.... Stunned and shocked by the brutality one person can inflict on another.
There is just simply times and places where you can and should have fun and obviously places you shouldn't. I TRY to not give in to horsing around in such a fun car unless I know it's realativly a safer area for myself, my car and the other people with little kids in theirs.

Keep on keeping on, Andrew. And the older you get, you will find the more principles like this expand in your attitude. I'll report every tiny crime anyone commits if it's even remotely a threat to the lives and safety of my community, neighbors, and especially my own friends and family.

Besides, doing this on public streets is just straight up dumb. We have race tracks for a reason.

I can't find any evidence that any cars have been confiscated and crushed, in California, for a street racing violation, since a few isolated incidents in 2007-08.
Law enforcement seemed to move on to impounding vehicles, at drivers check points, for various offences such as driving while impaired, driving without a license, no insurance, registration, etc. Again, like the street racing, they were stopped, by the legislature, from, unconstitutionally, impounding the vehicles.
They made millions of dollars, by the way. And they weren't even "confiscating" the cars, they were just impounding them for so long that, in many cases, the impound fees exceeded the value of the car, or worse, the fees were more than the owner was able to pay, so the car was taken by "mechanics lien" and then auctioned off by the towing/storage company and the profit split between them and the law enforcement agency. They were, basically, preying on the low income and immigrants of the population.
A neat scheme!
Since dealing with real property can get legally messy, ALL United States law enforcement agencies have begun to confiscate cold, hard CASH! It's difficult for anyone to claim ownership and there are no lawyers from financial institutions to deal with, trying to make a claim on the property. Many departments depend on this income in their yearly budgets.

You can always depend on law enforcement to go after the "low hanging fruit".

I know that property is seized every day, for various reasons, but the seizure of an "owned asset" is much different than seizing a piece of property that belongs to a third party.
