Almost wiped out with a deer on the drive home yesterday...

Was driving on a moderately busy two-lane road a little after 6PM as dusk was settling in. I noticed something moving out of the corner of my eye and reflexively slammed the brakes before I realized it was a deer sprinting at full speed from left to right in front of me! I think the right front corner of my bumper just brushed up against the tail, but no damage to deer or car as far as I could see.

I think that was my most exciting moment of the week...LOL.

You were very fortunate, as well as being alert!

I've seen first hand what a deer can do to damage a vehicle; it can also crash through a windshield and take out the occupants.

I ****ing hate deer but not as much as I hate the AR activists who protest hunting when the state has on overpopulation problem with deer AND bears. They started an annual cull of bears here finally and have not caved to any pressure to shorten or eliminate deer season though so our politicians aren't total idiots it seems.

Anyway yeah deer... no... I almost caught one with my white Cobra, it actually brushed up against its feet and I think it kicked my front right tire but no damage to anything luckily. I blew up a deer in a SHO Taurus I had though. Shop wanted $1600 to fix the car. I fixed it myself for under $200 with a JY hood, JY headlight panel and a JY headlight.

Yeah. I nearly hit one graduation night. Driving on a 2 lane backroad, out of the corner of my eye I saw a deer, then it moved into the road. Slammed on the brakes, pulled the E brake, and turned the wheel. Ended up with the deer practically right outside the passenger side window.

[QUOTE=Strange Mud;2205794did ya go back and look for "deer berries"[/QUOTE]Hah! The little guy was at full gallop; I think he was too scared to leave any presents.

Hope this week is treating you better! I feel like I'm spinning one too many plates at work right now.

The've been debating opening a bear hunt season in my area (Central Florida) too. The bear population needs to be controlled. To date, three elederly women have been attacked by bears, one was in serious condition. For awhile, they would do a capture and release to Ocala national forest, but now the bear population in Ocala has forced the campgrounds to close due to them overtaking the sites.

They did this for the gator population (one lake was used to "harbor" the ones removed from smaller lakes); that lake's population jumped to over 8 thousand in less than two years!

I'm all for saving these animals in their natural surroundings, but when the population gets out of control, a controlled hunting season should be implemented.

In most cases, the ones who compain about taking the life of an animal living in its natural surrounding are the ones that buy a house that was built there. The state needs to either block off land and not allow development, or make people sign a waiver that states they will not complain when they live in an area populated with these animals.

Lol, that's like the people who buy houses near airports and then try to get a petition together to force them to close or relocate. Hell, here in NJ we had some REALLY stupid people in a town that built an elementary school right across from a porn store (yes an elementary school). They then ordered the store to relocate because it wasn't wholesome or something and the store sued and won and is still there, right across from K-5 kids lol.

You guys in Florida though, hurricane Andrew way back in the day coming through and knocking everything out for weeks and all those Burmese pythons getting out of pet stores and out into the Everglades... at least the gov't is trying to cull them all but that'll never happen, not 20 years later and an ideal environment and no natural predators. And I used to have a bunch of pet snakes too...
