Dash Cam

Anyone use a dash cam? Seems like I keep getting closer and closer to getting into an accident, and I know how people like lie to the police and insurance companies.

$100 is all I'm looking to spend.

How would a dash cam help in an accident? If you hit someone (dash cam recording forward), you'd be cited anyway, as any accident where you hit someone's rear would be your fault for following too close.

I've been running one in the DD for about a year now. Read reviews online and find one in your price range.

I've testified in 2 accidents involving injury. Footage would have been nice. It will also cover me when I get taken out. Just a matter of time.

Uh, it's not due to me following to close, it's due to people pulling out in front of me, or changing lanes when im right next to them. I don't follow people close, too many morons around here that brake for no reason and make right turns with no blinker.

Yeah actually if you rear end someone its automatically your fault UNLESS you happen to have a dash cam because then you can provide legit evidence of "yes, this dumbass pulled out into traffic and I had zero time to stop".

I need to put them into my cars as well, I've just been lazy and no money from xmas shopping among other things.

I use a GroPro Hero for my dash, costs $120 and then just buy an SD card. It also comes with the 3M mount to put right on the dash!

I would like to see the interesting things your dash cams pickup posted here for us to see. No need for dash cams where we live unless you want to see the expression on the face of the squirrels or deer you just smashed. Deer are kinda hard on the car.

Just had a truck pull out in front of me on the way back to the house. Was full of lumber and tools. First time I've had to legitimately lay on the horn. It may be time for a train horn...

This thread reminds me of one of my favorite computer games of all time called Carmageddon where the sole purpose was driving around like a maniac and trying to destroy property, other cars and run over pedestrians, it was epic, lol!

They make Carmageddon for android!

On topic I always have 1 or 2 go pros recording. 1 in the Mustang and 2 if I'm riding one of the motorcycles. (One facing forward and one to the rear)

Not in the case of brake checking...wait...I guess you'd probably have to be following too close for that too. Not if they reversed into you? I don't know.

I have seen a dashcam video of this guy merging into another guy and sideswiping another guy, basically scraping the first guy's bumper in a way that looked kinda like a rear ending would look like
