That's cheaper than 90s priced, at least near me. Cheapest I ever saw it in my life was 65 cents a gallon during a weekend promo at a big service center opening up in the late 90s. Besides that mid/high 80 cent range in the early 90s was the lowest and that was from the crap stations.

I have sausage fingers... My text was supposed to say that's 90s prices. Meaning in the early 1990s I remember gas being around that price point

Wow!
That was a legitimate price? Not some:promotion?

I don't think that it would be possible for the price to get that low in CA. Hell, the state and federal taxes here are almost 61 cents a gallon!

I remember when all the priced started to spike on oil and every company from milk to meat raised their prices and blamed it on the increased oil prices. Well guess what? Oil is down and a gallon is milk is still 5 bucks!

Yeah because nobody is sure how long its going to stay low. If it winds up being a long term thing we'll see how well capitalism still works in this country...

1.77 for 87 - usually usually 75 to 80 cents more for 91 (no ethanol)

Still just under $3/gal for 91 here. I really hate this small town sometimes.

Retarded considering WTI Crude oil closed at $29.84, and Brent crude closed at $28.63 on Friday.

Still holding at an average price of $178 for 87 octane in Central Florida.

And at my age, I can remember paying .35 to .39 cents a gallon.

Hey Soccerluvr4, Especially when you have the Richfield plant right at your front door. Makes no sense.

Apparently there is a gas war going on between 2 stations in Michigan. That's where that 78 cents/gallon thing came from. Gasbuddy was reporting 47 cents/gallon over the weekend. No kidding and it was verified.

Wow 47 cents?! Time to buy my own fuel farm and load up at your place in Michigan.

Just like you guys have said, no chance we'll see profitable gas prices that low due to the federal and state taxes plus economics behind it. Chance that it will rise if a bunch of producers are squeezed out due to low revenue in long run. But damn if I'm not smiling a little bit more when I'm filling up the tank for now

I dunno nothing is predicting it will rise anytime soon. And now with the Saudis keeping production up and Iran finally getting to jump in... we'll see. Not to mention we are 10-20 years away from the majority of new cars sold being hybrids or full electric.

Too long road trips this summer - Texas and CT. Hoping those prices remain low. Somehow, someway by the time we are traveling they will have bumped up the prices (to catch all us summer drivers) Never fails. No reason - but they will go up!

Your 100% right, OPEC and the middle eastern countries have the size and elasticity in production to control the supply/price easiest. Some of the smaller places here and in Canada still are producing, even if theyre losing incrementally, because the fixed costs of shutting down and restarting are worse than losing money per barrel produced.

^Part of the economic forecasting we do at my company.

Hopefully we dont see states trying to raise taxes in light of lower prices(since they figure we can handle a few extra cents now.) Lower gas prices = more money in pocket for every family and company---loving it.

A fuel tax increase is already in the works for CA. The state needs the money to repair our crumbling roads. They already get plenty of revenue from registration fees and fuel tax, but due to a loophole in the law, a good portion of that money goes directly into the state's general fund where it is used for everything but road infrastructure.
