Car I Drove(and now love)

you know youre addicted to cars when: you can pick any random car, then name every performance part on ebay for it, and you can do it in order by highest price.

you thats me. i just looked up stuff for a nissan 240sx, and daaaaaaaam. i was watching some import movie on ppv at my homies house, and they were teaching street racing, and one of the best cars to drift with is a 240sx. its rwd, which is what true drifting needs, limited slip. you can get the sr20dett enging for about 5,000, and the car itself is only worth about 4,000, so for 9,000 you can have a 13 second straightliner, or a really badass drifter. i spent last night soaking up every piece of machinery for that dam car on every single auto customization site i know of. the night before i was looking at 94 eclipse gst's. theyre way lighter than the 95+ ones, hella cheap but dont look as good, imo. but if youre into straight out performance, who cares about looks, right?
but now im looking at sn95 GT's. i just got home from one of my freinds house, where his uncle was over with his sn95(didnt ask what year) he said V8 but i didnt think to ask 5.0 or 4.6, forgot that not all of them are 4.6. so we were talking about our 2 cars and he says wanna take it for a drive. so i drove it, its a manual, but it must have been the easiest manual i know, cause i just got in that thing and blasted away, like i knew how to drive it perfectly. he just has 2.5" dual exhaust, flomasters and man, does it rumble like it should. the powerband was the same as my tbird, just better cause it was a 5spd. i got to punch it and let it wind out to 3rd and i was going like 90 (prolly really 80) but it felt soo good. i used to dislike the sn95 bodies because i thought they looked too girly with all the curves and no angles, and the slanted headlights, but not after i seen what he did to his. its the dark metallic grey, clear lights, it has an aftermarket wing on it, it looks nothing like ricey, like you would thing it would. it looks very good on the car. he had cobra R's, wrapped in khumos. it was the grey/black interior. im in love now. i mean it wasnt like he spent lots of money to get it looking good, and its not like it stands out in a crowd, but it looks clean. he said he got it a year ago for 8,000$

so now my list goes like this

95+ eclipse gs or gst, 5spd, non spyder.

99+ Mustang V6, 5spd. pefferably silver, white or black

94-98 Mustang GT, 5spd, i guess either black, white or that grey color

id take the 99+ V6, lots of aftermarket, looks agressive and is cheap for insurance. the 94-98 GT should be about the price range of a 99+ V6, the insurance will be a little higher, but i am willing to make do, just for that v8 rumble. an eclipse has the best aftermarket of the 3, looks better than any other import IMO, and the engine has so much potential.

For the 94-98s, the easiet way to tell if it's a 5.0 or a 4.6 is the fender badge or the tail lights. If it's a 5.0, the fender babge will say, "GT Mustang" and the tailight will be horizontal. The 4.6s say GT 4.6L and the taillights will be vertical.

Eclipses are OK. A girl I met at school has one. She bought it with a molded in body kit, hood pins, rims. roof scoop. carbon fiber hood, Eclipse Mid-Wing, and the reverse glow gauges. Looks good, but it is slow. It's the inline four non-turbo version, front wheel drive. Haven't seen alot of TurboCharged All Wheel Drive versions running around here.

The aftermarket has really taken a liking to the 99+ SPI engine. It's been easier to add power to it. The SPI engine to the V6 crowd is to the '03 Cobra engine to the V8 crowd. It response so well to bolt-ons.

Well, going from V8 to 4 banger, you'll lose that "Head Slammed into the back of your seat" feeling. They build horsepower but they don't create torque. Torque is what wins races. So said Carroll Shelby, but what does he know right?

Either way, good luck on the car seach.

it was a 5.0 then, with the horizontal taillights. the non turbo eclipses are hella slow, but with some minor bolt ons can be in the 15's. the 240's are slow also but would make a great sleeper or a sick *** drifter. and its rwd, so i likey. so for the next week ill be fanatic about the sn15 body, then ill prolly get over it, just like always, its a different car each week. started like 3 months ago with an evo, then a s2000, then the rx-8's were pretty tight, then a 99+ mustang , then integras, then eclipses and now im fantasizing about the 94-98 mustang platforms. heck next week will prolly be fox bodies(a childhood favorite).

yea the 240 makes a great drifter cause it's light on the front and the rear. Can't go wrong there.

umm can your 64 do a 13 sec pass? stock? ok then. lol my mom was telling me how she had this bf who was into super blown muscle cars back in the 70's and how she went with him to the track and ran with him inside the car, and she thought it was hella fast. then i showed her my 15 sec time slip, and she was like holy ****, thats like the same as the guy with the blown charger she used to know. lol and all i gots is intake and torque converter.

it should be able to run high 13's but momma wont let me race. an if people with blown muscle cars are running 15's they can't drive, because most of them were in the 12- low 13 range stock.

my friend has a 93 240sx with a manual in it, with all the bolt ons new spec clutch, cai, pulleys, exhaut, ignition, and a couple more things, he thought he coudl take me but he was wrong back before i had my pulley, ds, and cai and when he had all but ignition and clutch i still beat him pretty good with worn out tires.

that car has been around a long time and stll runs good, the motors will last a pretty long freaky time.
