Has anyone already had the recall on the airbag done

I'm wondering what all they have to remove to replace the faulty part.
I was told the whole center console had to come out as well as the center part of the steering wheel.
Does it really take a whole half a day?
How many rattles and scuff marks after the job is done.
Ronnie

Air bag is a pretty straight forward job Ronnie. Shouldn't take more than an hour honestly and they shouldn't cause any rattles or scuffs.

Is it only the airbag in the steering wheel, or is it the passenger side?

Or is it both?

Have they started doing the replacements yet? I thought it was still going to be a little while.

If its just the steering wheel, then its easy, and no rattles or dash issues are expected. I changed out a steering wheel on my 2011, and it required removal of the airbag. They will disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, then pop off the two black caps at the left and right of your steering wheel. This exposes two small bolts that hold the airbag assembly in the steering wheel. They will then pull out the airbag assembly, unplug it, and install the new one.

You should have time to sip coffee, and eat one donut.

I took mine in for an oil change Friday, and asked the service manager about the status. She said we have a few and asked if I wanted to get mine done while I was there. They had it done in less than 20 minutes.

Not really, I do worry about what kind of Motor Monkey they have to do the airbag recall though.

I took in my 2014 a week ago, didn't took long probably 1.5hrs. Next day I got a call from the dealership that they put the wrong part, and I had to take it back. Apparently they put a '10-'12 airbag inflator and was rejected by ford because it is not compatible with the '14. They guy told me that the '13-'14 revised part was gonna come out by the last quarter of the year so they put the original part back. So around another hr and a half there. I told them I was having problems with my battery and they replaced it no charge So I didn't complain. ☺️

They put the wrong one in mine as well about 6-7 weeks ago. They let me keep the wrong one in. No airbag light and like I told them. If rather take a chance it doesn't go off then have it go off and possibly shoot metal at me (which why wouldn't it cause it's the same size and is controlled still by my car... It's only a couple wires connecting them)

Oh yeah... It only took 15 mins to install.

I just got a letter from Ford a couple weeks ago that the recall for my 2013 airbag will be scheduled sometime in Q4 of 2016.

Had the steering wheel airbag done on my GT around a month or two ago. Didn't take long at all. Stood about 3 feet away from the car during the service.

Walked into the local ford dealer to purchase the updated axle vent tube and asked if my car was on the recall list. I never received a letter, they ran the vin and said it's under the recall. Btw they had 25 inflators in stock. Mine is scheduled for monday.

I checked a few months ago. Guess I better check again. These are affecting millions of cars across a lot of brands. So I am guessing Ford is only getting them trickling to them.
