Gas Problem in the South East

Due to the current rupture of a pipeline there is a fuel shortage (my area is definitely being affected). At the moment gas stations around me are out of fuel. The few stations, such as Murphy's / Wal-Mart that have fuel have huge lines, and skyrocketing prices.

Now I am wondering whether I should tune my car back to 87 Octane. At the moment I am tuned for 91 performance by Bama, and running 93 Octante.

Of course I will change the tune if I am limited to 87 for a short while. My curiousity at the moment is whether or not fuel mileage would be better with 87 than with higher octane gas.

I would re-tune for lower octane if you know you may be limited in what you can get.

It is definitely interesting.

I will likely change the tuning to 87 this evening. I'm hoping for a few extra MPG.

Come to my side of the river. We have plenty of gas, and the places I go haven't gone up in price.

I may have to cross the river if the gas station games continue.

I believe you may be right. The cost may be less though.

As of this writing, gas in Florida (in central Florida) is holding at around $2.05 a gallon for 87 octane.

Can't figure out why the two states of Georgia and South Carolina are suffering, and everyone else is fine.

In NC gas literally jumped around 50 cents. It was around 2/gallon a week and a half ago and now it's 2.40-2.50 every where. Will be curious how long it will last. I wouldn't think too long if it's isolated to a few states.

As much as I dislike using Wal-Mart / Murphy's gas, I was able to get 93 Octane for $2.09 today. That is much more affordable than normal.

I live in Winston Salem and work in high point. My normal commute route takes me past 7-8 gas stations. Only one shut down in the past week. This whole thing was blown completely out of proportion. Sure gas prices spiked. Went up maybe 30 cents at the most in the stations I frequent. Some other places had more outages, but if you drove a mile down the road there were others with plenty. Some places had cars backed up 15 deep. Down the road, no lines. It's worse than when they call for snow and everyone panics and buys up all the bread, milk and toilet paper. Calm down people. It's just another distraction from the major issues facing this country. Off my soapbox now. Lol

I buy my gas wherever is cheapest... Which, typically, is a liquor store in my area! Haha

What is wrong with Wal-Mart's gasoline?

I miss High Point. That city held the drag boat races right after Augusta in the circuit. The drag boat race in High Point was one big party.

What happens when you have you women in white shirts, and a teenage boy with a water gun offering to cool you down? I had a great time, and looked forward to that one city every year. Lol

Now I am a dad with daughters. It would not hurt my feelings to hurt a teenage boy such as the one I was.
