Well i have finally ordered everything for my nwe computer that i belive i need, any other little stuff will be added in..... i got two 512 mb ram sticks and i am only gonna use one until its all up and going then if i dont need to return it to afford otehr parts i will put it in as well, here are the parts i am getting:

AMD athlon 2800+ XP processor

Albatron USA KX600 PRO VIA Motherboard (3pci, 1agp, integrated audio, 333mhz 166fsb)

You will just hook everything up as normal with your current OS already on the HD, and it will auto-detect everything for you with no problems, I did this not long ago myself here with a new board and all aswell.

I was in shock myself thatit found everything and have been running fine with it for a couple months now...

well i am getting a new harddrive my 20gig current one is not fast enough so its gonna be my secondary.... i am going to start from nothing on the primary 120 gig, can you simply stick in the secondary (currently my primary hard drive....) and pull all my files directly off it (setting the 20 gig to slave of course)

I want to know if i need to back up the files or can i just stick it back in when i get the new stuff going and pull the files from it directly... like no problem, it has windows on it but i dont think that really matters.

To awnser your question here.... Yes you dont have to back the files up, you can just make it your slave drive, setup as a your secondary. And just pull the files back and forth if you like, no need to back them up if you dont need too, but with my luck in the past I always back the files up otherwise Sir Darwin of Mishaps shall knocketh on my door...

* Always better to be safe than sorry *

if youve got windows XP installed now you can look in your registry for your CD key and just get it from there

well, i can't offer much right now. i could be homeless, literally, within a month depending. i guess i'll let you know when i am a situation to buy it. it'd have to be dirty cheap, otherwise, it's ok, more space is good.

for the money you can buy a very nice set up really, i would buy a 2500+ xp barton with a motoboard to go with ti (A socket motherboard that accepts ddr ram and has pci, and an agp slot) all that for 150~ then buy a stock of ram for 80 bucks, a video card for 100~ (decent one or 150 for a pretty good one) and a hard drive 80 gig for like 40 bucks. you may need a power supply 30 bucks~ and a cd rom/floopy drives wtih tower all taht around 100
