Your thoughts

This guy at work has a 94 or 96 Mustang GT (Forgot which year, I'll get back to you on it, but it has the 90's body style) He put leather in it, has a bunch of upgrades such as the cold air intake and random things like that, it's manual transmission, it has the mach 460 speaker system in it, 17 inch rims, lowered it alittle bit, has this silver lining on it (I think he said "The GT silver lining" I have no idea what that is), and I believe a few other things. Anyhow, he got in an accident with it awhile ago and he's selling it. From what he told me, the body just needs work (the front left and right sides of the car are crunched). He told me some mechanic said it would cost 6 grand to fix. He also said the engine, electronics and all were still working fine, it's just body work that needs to be fixed.

Here's where I need your help, he said he'd sell it for 2500-3000 bucks because it's an eye sore for him and he doesn't want to see it anymore. I was thinking about switching the interior, taking out the engine upgrades and throwing it into my car (If the upgrades are universal for the V8 and V6) taking the rims and throwing on regular whatever rims on there, and just take off whatever else I would like on it. Then I'd have it fixed and sell it for more than 2500-3000 and hopefully make some profit off of it in the end.

Sound like it'd work? Good idea, bad idea, your thoughts are needed here guys Thanks in advanced

** I'll go to his house when I have a chance to check it out and bring my digital camera so you guys can see the damage and all.

sounds like WAY more work than i would like to take on. i think you will have a hard time getting full value for any work you put into the car if you are just going to turn around and sell it. also, depending on the extent of the "crunching" there may be some frame damage. either way i am not one to spend 2500 bones on a busted up car that is still relatively common. i say keep your eyes open for something in better condition.

maybe just grab some of the upgrades off him for cheap.

no offense seriously but if you don't know cars which you obviously don't i wouldn't touch it. 94-95 gt's were 5.0l's and 96-98's were wussy 4.6l's. performance parts are hardly ever interchangeable. if you were smart you'd sell your car and just buy his. especially if it's a 5.0.

lol I guess so, when I go to work I'll get all the information from him again and write it down. The damage he said looked like 6 thousand dollars, I don't think it will cost that much to fix it up though unless like you guys said the frame is screwed up

yeah man, sounds like bad news to me. IMO if it gets to the point where you are putting more money into it than it is worth it makes little sense as an investment. that and there are enough mustangs around that are in good shape.

I'll get an estimate from a mechanic I know, if it ends up costing a lot more than I'd like I'll not go for it. I'll just buy the parts off him like posted

no offense duder, but find out more about 4.6L (not 4.8L) mustangs of that year (i think you said 96) before you consider buying one.

ESPECIALLY if the one you are buying is wrecked.
CAI aint ****, you keep mentioning it like it's a supercharger.

just my .02, take it or leave it.
