shaved off another few pounds

today:

!bracket for brake controller harness in trunk (velcro'd now) - .5lbs
!bracket for some lines under front bumper - .5lbs
!hood insulation - 3lbs?
!plastic piece at front of engine bay that holds hood stand (cracked, needs replacing anyways)

so far:

!spoiler - 8lbs
!front sway/endlinks - 25-30lbs
weld wheels, total of 50lbs lost, give or take 5lbs
!power driver's seat - 30lbs
!padding under carpet - 5lbs
!center console/bracket for trash bin - 3-5lbs?
!some misc crap i forget

approx. 115-135lbs

i'm looking to get it as light as possible while looking decent inside and out. i'm not going to gut it or go extreme, but i will be making some sacrifices. right now i have 0$ to work with, but maybe one day that'll be different. there are probably 10-20lbs of brackets throughout the car that can be replaced by zip ties or plastic substitutes of some sort.

how do you remove your windsheild washer fluid jug? i got up underneath there and i still couldn't figure out how it was attached. there are two bolts that hold the battery holder in place, but it doesn't touch the washer fluid resoviour.

stock race weight: 3,170lbs
new race weight: maybe 3,050lbs?

Those two pounds will give you better traction for the holeshot.

I'm just kidding. If you started stripping out your interior panels to save a pound, then I'd be worried.

every 100lbs you lose .1sec in your ET.

Austin - I personally wouldnt leave the hood insulation off for too long. I have heard various opinions about taking it off being bad for your hood and whatnot. Personally i would just leave it on. its not that heavy and it cant hurt, right?

Remove your brake dust shields. That'll save you at least 6 ounces a piece.

i agree with that, being that its your daily driver you should keep that thing on so your paint doesnt start warping also, when you go to the track, why not just take the hood off completely?
