it's good to see so many hard workers here. i salute you. especially the guy paying for car and college and everything. i can barely make ends meet as it is right now and i'm not re-enrolled yet because of the lack of funds.

When I first bought my car is was 8000, my parents gave me to keep 2,500. I paid for the rest. I pay for gas, and my 3,600year insurance. My parents just loaned my 4,600 for my GT. So I gotta start paying that off, YAY!

Well, It's been a long time. I used to be able to borrow my Dad's car when I needed to, but I paid for the gas and I paid the increase on the insurance. No one ever bought me crap. When my mom asked me what I wanted for my 18th I told her a car, she asked what kinda car, I figured shoot for the moon. I asked for a vette, I'd of been happy with a chevette though.

I got a vette, a nice silver snap together model of one.

When my oldest got her license, that's another story, I told her she had to pay for the gas and insurance bump having her on my policy cost. She got to drive the Neon mostly, but was allowed to drive any of the cars. I haven't bought her anything either.

My thinking is this, and I seen it a lot, if something is given to someone it ain't appreciated, whereas if they have to earn it they intimately understand what it costs.

Steve

The kid is definitely a punk! But those people usually amount to nothing later in life because they think everything should be given to them. He's in for a world of hurt when he doesn't get everything he wants.

For me, my parents cosigned a loan for my first car. I had to make the payments, insurance, repairs...etc. Second car I was completely on my own. No cosigning, no help. Been like that since I was 17.

Yeah, they did. It was my birthday present / early-grad gift. They gave me $700 towards a set of Steeda wheels that cost me $350 a wheel. I still had to buy tires after that. If you do the math, I still had to put out a hefty ammount after that Oh... and my tires were $140 each

My rents bought my first car. A 93 Grand Prix 2 door, puke green, more miles than i can remember, holes in floor board. Non-shifting trans, the whole works. I probably had more duct tape on that car then most ppl know exists. I decided my senior year I was gonna get a new car. While looking for a truck I found my stang and couldn't put down the price. I was going to pay for the car and increase in insurance. I paid my part till I got in a wreck last year, rents have paid rest. Couldn't exactly make an income while in hospital. As it is now, car is gonna be paid off very soon...hopefully next few months. Then i can get it transferred over to my name. My dad has decided to be a butt hole and says I can do anything to "his" car. I'm slightly pissed at the moment...but o well, he did pay for most of it...

'96 Berretta was my first. I hated it. Uhg. When I graduated last year I got this summer job in a factory working 60 hours a week, so then my dad agreed to co-sign for my mustang. Everything that has had to do with both those cars has been financed by myself. Having to work sucks .
