Got to drive a turbo coupe

Today i went with a friend to look at an 87 thunderbird turbo coupe, similar to my car, but has the 2.3L turbo, 5-speed, almost fully optioned, the programmed ride control, abs, tighe suspension and all that ****

the car was fun! its not that fast, they run low 16's, but having a 5-speed in a car thats just like mine, looking over the hood of a car just like mine, watching the tach in a gauge cluster thats just like mine, it was awesome, car handled pretty decent, had okay power, and felt just like my car but a little tighter and with a bit more power

when you have a car, and are stuck with the automatic, and get to drive a car like yours with a 5-speed, its so much fun

anyone feel like donating a flywheel, and clutch to me? maybe a bellhousing?

ehh thats kinda crappy, i always thought the tc's to be faster than that, but fords 2.3's do suck major nuts(had it in my 74 mustang 2). but if you like it, go for it. i dont know how much boost the tc can take, might be worth looking up. maybe you can make it a quick little sleeper.

indeed 5spds are way funner to drive than a automatic. if my V8 bird was a stick, id still have it, cause thats all i wanted. but they dont make 4.6L tbirds with 5spd's, only crappy slow shifting automatics(fk you ford). and after putting the money for the auto-manny swap, id be halfway the price of the eclipse, and id still be running 16's.

god dammit i miss the eclipse. only a month to wait. dam women drivers.

the Turbo Coupes for their time and what they were are decently quick, just with moving 2 vacume lines, you bump the boost to 18psi, and got a mid 15, already challanging and beating MANY stock imports, 3" exhaust, make a cold air, and a few odds and ends, you could have a solid 14 second car

the IHI turbo on the 87-88 makes about 18psi before going out of its effeciency range, the T3 on th mid 85-86 5-speed cars could make 24, the automatic version could make 20-22 (had a smaller exhaust housing and wheel) and the 83-mid 85 T3's could make 20-22

just gotta get a decent intercooler on it
