Gas Strike!!!

Just got this in my e-mail...thought I should share........Send it to people you know.

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
> PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL
> COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT
> THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH
> AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.
>
> THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND
> THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.
>
> THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
> PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
>
> WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT
> GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT
> THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
>
> REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE
> SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE
> FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS
> SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES
> ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
>
> WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE
> WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
>
> SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU
> KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE
> UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

that doesnt do anything, if ppl dont buy gas for one day that just means the next day twice as many ppl will. its lose lose. What we need to do is kill all the environmentalists and then start drilling for oil in our forests, gas would be like a dollar / gallon again if we did that.

If they lost 4.6 billion dollars... They'd just raise the price of gas to make up for it.

the thing is though they wouldnt lose any money... so what, people dont buy gas for a day, they're going to have to buy it eventually... itll just be on a different day than normal. Theres no way that such a short run loss in profits would affect the oil industry enough to even think about lowering prices. Like laser said, even if their was a substancial loss of money theyd just jack the price up a couple cents for a week and make that money back and then some. Theres really nothing we as the lil citizen peons can do about it.

Like i said, i think we should be allowed to drill in our national forests. You wouldnt have to chop down more than like 15 trees to put a drill in an area, and honestly how would a huge hole in the ground effect animals/horticultural life?

I don't think we should drill in every forest. We should drill ANWR though. Caribous don't mind oil rigs in the slightest.

Gas will be high for a long, long, time. There is no way we can "beat" the oil companies. We can go on strike and they can get mad and raise the price $.50 more. Then what? Yeah. You still have to go to work, don't you, Charlie? Well enjoy your $3.00 gas.

eh the impact on wildlife where they would be drilling would be little to none. Dont let Ted Kennedy fill your head with these "its going to be another Exxon Mobile" incidents. Cause its not.
