Proud Mississippians...

You are a proud Mississippian if:

1. You can properly pronounce Kosciusko, Ackerman, Gautier, Picayune and Belzoni.

2. You think people who complain about the heat in their states are sissies.

3. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel.

4. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but by the availability of shade.

5. Stores don't have bags or shopping carts, they have sacks and buggies.

6. You've seen people wear overalls at funerals.

7. You think everyone from a bigger city has an accent.

8. You measure distance in minutes. (It's about 5 minutes down the road)

9. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean.

10. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit.

11. You know cow pies are not made of beef.

12. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding date.

13. You have known someone who has a belt buckle bigger than your fist.

14. You aren't surprised to find movie rental, ammunition, beer, and bait all in the same store.

15. A Mercedes Benz isn't a status symbol.. A Chevy Silverado Extended Bed Crew Cab is. (or a foxbody mustang)

16. You know everything goes better with Ranch Dressing.

17. You learned how to shoot a gun before you learned how to multiply.

18. You actually get these jokes and are 'fixin' ' to send them to your friends.

19. You have used your heater and air-conditioner in the same day!

Finally: You are 100% Mississippian if you have ever had this conversation:

20. 'You wanna coke?' 'Yeah.' 'What kind?' 'Dr Pepper.'

21. Re-send this if you are a proud Mississippian

I once got that exact same email, but it was Alabama. The only difference was the list of cities. Eufala was one of them.

I've never seen a place that sold all those in Alabama lol.

Edit: Wal Mart doesn't count. They are all over the country and you can't rent movies there. Not all Wal Marts sell ammo either.

Re: Proud Mississippians...

wow.. here is the one from my home town

if you're from fISHERS.. youLL unDERStaND!!!

You start off 2 out of 3 sentences with "I'm not gonna lie"

Anyone without designer clothes looks out of place.

When you plan a party and a Euchre game breaks out.

Speeding is going at least 21 miles over the speed limit

You always park next to at least one BMW at school

You can see at least 2 basketball hoops from your yard

The biggest question of your youth was "IU or Purdue?"

You can't decide who you hate more terrorists or kids from Carmel

You read the title of this list and said "Fishers..?! Oh Fi-Town"

If a street is not between 96th- and 131st you have no idea where it is

You see more people you know at Starbucks than in the hallway at school

You frequent Ft. Fishers for Spring Break

You know exactly what the word JANK means

if you hear "HSEasy" and say "yeah, i went to high school there

if you the only black family in the niegborhood, only black person in yo class, and when u go to the Y...its ALL black people on the basketball team!!!

if all the guys you know wear velour jumpsuits, Timbalands, and JLo sunglasses... and claim they're "unisex"

when you go to college aka IU or PU or BSU and realize you have made all new friends...BUT you still see all the same cliques walking around campus..bringing back memories of the commons before the 5 min bell

if you go to school in 30 degree weather wearing nothing but shorts and a t-shirt

when you can see the trees disapear after you reach the end of the buble that is F-town.

when you/your peers still wear flip-flops and sunglasses in the dead of winter

when you can say" i remember when that used to be a cornfield"

when theres a windchill advisory and the schoolboard doesnt give a two hour delay

when cheap beer to you is corona
The student parking lost is nicer than the faculties' parking lot.

-Your dad didn't work out of IN, yet flew to either the E. or W. Coast every week.

-There was no choice of going to college or not-- the only choice was where.

-You didn't get into fights, you threatend calling your lawyer.

-Our school song might as well have been the Nat'l. Anthem.

-If you were in sports--your life was much easier.

-Your end of the season sports' banquet was at the Yacht Club.

-When you go to The Tavern in Broadripple and it is an HSE reunion.

-When people at school ask where you are from & as soon as you say Fishers you get "that" look.

-Noblesville scares you.

-You think nothing of having a few vodka tonics with
adults twice your senior.

-You are relieved when you go back home to Fishers and there are no townies as far as the eye can see.

-If your mom was either a Martha Stewart or a MILF.

You guys haven't seen Walmarts with the movie rental place up front? Both the one in Florence and the one here in Greenville had them at some time, but I think the one in Greenville closed.

Re: Proud Mississippians...

Eh, I'll bite, I might as well include from my area,

You know you're from Long Island when:

Jones Beach Theater is the best place in the world to see a concert.

Billy Joel said it best, “Either you date a rich girl from the North Shore, or a cool girl from the South Shore."

What’s the big deal about the Hamptons?

You don’t go to Manhattan, you go to “the City"

You never, ever want to “change at Jamaica..."

You never realize you have an accent until you leave.

You can name at least three bands that came from Long Island.

At some point in your life you or someone you know has owned an animal that came from North Shore Animal League.

You walk around the mall aimlessly.

When you walk in the city and you see two men holding hands...it becomes normal to you.

No word ends in an ER, just an AH.

When you’re away from Long Island, you love it and when you’re there, you don’t.

You know that the beach is the most magical place in the world at night.

You know the exact point at which Queens turns into Nassau simply on intuition.

You’re still waiting for a bridge to Connecticut.

You’ve tried to use your father’s monthly ticket to ride the LIRR. It worked.

No matter what you do, you end up at the diner.

Your distant future might involve the state of Florida.

You’ve tried to find the Amityville Horror house.

Each one of your diverse friends mercilessly makes fun of his own background.

You love that salty smell of the ocean.

No, you don’t want mustard on that burger!

One of the most exciting days of your summer is when the tickets to the Jones Beach Theatre shows go on sale.

You know White Castle is terrible for you and the food sucks. But, you periodically “Get the Crave".

You can order a pizza pie and a soda and people will understand.

You don’t associate Fire Island with gay men.

You know that parts of The Godfather were filmed on LI.

You have, or someone you know has, fallen asleep on the LIRR and ended up in one of these three places: Babylon, Port Washington or Hicksville.

You’ve missed that “Drunk Train”, the 2:42 out of Penn and had the dreaded wait until 5:30.

You think Islip MacArthur airport is cute and you enjoy watching it grow up.

Your parents took you to Nathans or Carvel.

You can correctly pronounce places like Happaugue, Commack, Islip, Islandia, Nissequogue, Wantagh, and Massapequa.

You know the location of 6 malls, a dozen McDonalds, and 36 7-11’s.

You grew up thinking Chinese food was a basic food group.

You’re used to driving down the street in December and seeing more light-up menorahs than you can shake a latka at. In fact, even your non-Jewish friends know what Matzoh is. And you’ve never driven more than 10 miles without seeing a temple. [<- Unfortunately]

Oh, your parents are from Brooklyn? So are mine!

Yes, admit it, you’ve cruised the DPA.

You can remember making up rules for 'Shotgun' calls in high school.

You were upset when all the Roy Rogers turned into Wendy's.

You actually "get" these jokes and pass them on to other people from Long Island.

go to the one on 20 in Madison. They have a kiosk for renting movies at the door. so hahaha

On bases, at least down here in the south, you go to the shopette you can get everything but the ammo.

And I agree, it is called soda, not coke. Ask me for a coke and you are getting a Coca-Cola. Drives me crazy people call everything a coke. Mt. Dew is not a cola, and though Pepsi is, it is still not a coke.

And I have seen this list for my own home state of Oklahoma, just different cities. Same with Texas. I think it is a list made up by someone in NYC that, stereotypes everyone in the south and looks at the map for strange city names for every state that is in the southern half of the country.
