SRT-4 Thoughts

This guy I work with is like obsessed with this car. Sure it's got a turbo system in it and it's under 20 grand. It's still a Neon look'n Dodge though to me. And it's front wheel drive? I expect a lot of spinning tires in the front when they gun it, like my bro's Monte Carlo.

I've seen some vids where the SRT is racing some cars, but I haven't been "Wowed" yet. Put it against some stangs and we'll see. That's my opinion though.

Steve was hilarious. Is he still over at 3.8 or did he drop stangs altogether? SRT-4s can beat anything! It's not a Dodge Neon, it's a PVO SRT-4! Entirely different! SRT-4s aren't POS neons, they have "Viper-inspired" interiors (later turning out to be silver spray paint and slighty-better-than-stock seats).

STi will own the SRT-4 off the line but the SRT-4 will inevitably beat it.

I like the SRT-4, too. And the Viper is my favorite American car. There. Positive. At long last.

I should have taken pictures of the Vipers when I was looking at the STi on Saturday, they were REAL beauties.

SRT4's are great "pocket-rocket" cars, they have the potential to run low 14's out of the box, a set of slicks, and its a high 13, the car is decent looking, has just downright awesome performance potential, has a rather bullet proof transmission, a limited slip diff (in the 04's) and some great overall performance features

the downsides of the car is its not really meant to be a daily driver, the fit and finish isnt the greatest, theres a great deal of road noise, the ride isnt the greatest, its just not really a daily driver

you also HAVE to run premuim fuel in them, if you dont, youll end up detonating under boost and not being a happy camper

no the stock SRT4 will not beat a STi even to the top end.

off the line the models without LSD will get owned, 1st and 2nd are mostly tire spin. now the newer LSD models are supposedely fixing that, but its still no match vs a STi off the line.

the SRT4 does the 1/4 in 14.2 with light mods like intake and exhaust. ive ran them at the track. nothing too big. there was a STi at the track when i went with my tbird that ran a 13.43 with some **** done, dont know how much but it had one mean *** BOV and what looked like a stock exhaust.

i wouldnt mind the SRT4 if it was a 2dr. i really dont like the idea of racing a 4 door "family sedan". even if it pulls straight 14's stock. only time i want 4 doors is in a minivan or something.

dude nate are you really gonna get a scion? wow, from a badass truck to a scion, theres a total mindblower.

ive actually seen a 14.3 bone stock on street tires, the fronts were aired down a bit, and the rears were pumped up to about 50psi for less rolling resistance

I dunno man, in all honesty, the SRT-4 is a nice car, but it seems like Dodge tried too hard with that car... there's a lot of nice things like the Viper inspired seats, and then you have the joy of rattling interior panels and other crappy pieces. As far as I'm concerned, the SRT-4 is nothing more than the poor man's Evo.

poor mans evo, thats amusing, very amusing

the Evo is a totally different beast, its a higher cost car, and you pay for the quality, the SRT-4 designers even say the fit and finish of the car isnt perfect, because the SRT wasnt meant to be a luxurious car, it is basically a bare minimum, the interior panels are just in there, they left out sound deadening, they left out all the moisture bariars, the car was meant to be a performance car, not a high quality street car

I watched a race vid of an STI vs a Neon SRT-4 and the STI from a roll was abotu even it pulled a bit. from a stop the STI put 6-8 cars on the neon like it was nothign lol.

I have drove an neon SRT-4 i dont see teh Hype obviouly the ones who are talking about how fast tehy are came from another 4 banger ro v6 or something. its not nearly as fast in the mid range or as fun to drive as a stock 99 up gt..... they got some pep but nothign extremly fast, they are low 14 sec cars with an average driver....

It feels nice, I'm sure it's an awsome car but I just don't really dig it all that much. Another kinda downer for me is... I sat in a 99+ Mustangs and I really just feel akward in them. I feel taller than usual and my head room is pretty non exsistant. They change the interior much too? The 98 fit me like a glove :-/

Anyhow, here are some vids. I picked 2 out of the 4-5 I had, the first one is him just gunning it so you know how fast it can go, how loud it is (Everything on this is stock, including the boost gauge on the side of the dash). The second video, this guy in a slightly tricked out BMW gunned it next to us because he thought we were racing and we flew by him like it was nothing

Sooooo enjoy and could someone answer that concern for me? :-/ I really don't want to stray from a stang but if I can't fit in it.. I don't want it. If I got another 98ish I'd want a GT

the interior is identical its all in your head, remember htey have power seats that raise up and down also along with raise the front end and back end up alone, it was probably just raised up. lower it and its identical to the pre 99's

I would bet the seat was raised up, I have a 99, had a 94, no difference in room; head or legroom. Here is one for you. Kenny Brown sells a kit to put on your seat to move it back, gives your 3" more leg room, been thinking of getting one for mine. Not sure if its worth the 100 bucks to me or not. That is per seat btw. I might do it later on. Still debating on a roll bar or not. Don't go with a 98 or earlier GT unless its been upgraded to 99+ heads. You sacrifice over 40 hp. On the SRT 4, I looked at one once, got attacked by an idiot car salesman who thought I wanted to trade in my GT for it, roflmao, I told him it was ok, but I didn't like the idea of a 4 door sports car, and if they made one in 2 door I might think about buying one, but I would NEVER trade my GT for one.

Two guys at my local Advance Auto Parts both have one. Ones red and ones blue. The only good thing about them is the intercooler in the lower grille.

They wouldn't be fun to do anything to though, I mean, the turbo is back on the firewall.

i lowered it as much as I could and for some reason I just couldn't get comfortable.

no comments on the vids besides how pixily they are? I made it low resolution so it could be a smaller download
