he should of had insurance. any car dealer will let you call your broker and get insurance on it at the dealership. heck, some dealers will provide you insurance until you get home to make that call.

i always thought there was some law that protects you on your trip straight home from the place you bought it from but maybe thats only in the US

Assuming you already have insurance that is.
