Pics of my wrecked car

Finally got some pics of my car. It's much worse than I remember. Also heard from the insurance people today. They admit to making a mistake and should take care of my car. I will find out for sure tomorrow.

damn... that scoop is probably warped by now.

maybe not though, cars are made from some pretty flexible stuff.

I'll try to answer all your questions.

Hood scoop is most likely wasted. It's following the shape of the hood so I really doubt it can be salvaged. The air bags didn't deploy. I was going about 5mph if that. I know the damage looks bad but the impact didn't seem very hard. I was shocked that after I hit the guy that my hood was all crunched up like that. Of course sitting inside, that's all I could see. I guess you really can't see in the pics but that hood is made of fiberglass. I didn't realize that. Sounded like metal when I tapped on it. As for the miles, not exactly sure but I think it was around 4800. Look at the front right tire, notice how it sticks out about 2-3 inches farther than it should? It's like the whole front end got shifted over. I hoping they consider it totalled. I wouldn't feel good about driving a car that has been repaired after that kind of damage.

What did you hit? I'm wondering if the reason the airbags didn't deploy was becase the bumper of what ever he hit, didn't hit his bumper but instead just kind of scraped the car off the frame.

I was making a left hand turn into a parking lot. A car was coming down the street doing 30-35mph. I had just started to accelerate when I caught the passing car right about his front left tire. He kept going past me which probably just tore the front end off of my car. If you look at the pics, you can see that the impact was actually the front left corner of my car but the momentum of the crash brought the rest of the front end into the picture. Hope that makes sense.

Be glad you airbags didn't deploy. You'd be looking at an extra 1000 buck-a-roos to get them replaced. You may think that the insurance would cover them, and they will but for some more money a month.

yeah. thats 90% of the reason my 97 was totaled, damn airbags.

and i got hit right in front of the passenger door, not near the front. And the only injuries i got came from the seatbelt (a cut) and the airbag (a burn).

I would go for a 94-95 GT, all about the 5.0, and dont go with the oh 4.6 has 260 hp. because my car vs my friends 00 from 3rd at 70 to 120, he is only about 4 cars ahead. I can hold with him pretty good for only having 215hp.

I really don't know the status. When I talked to the dealership, they guessed that the damage was around 6-8K. Of course it's up to the insurance company to claim it as totaled unless the repair shop finds a problem they can't fix.

Still waiting to hear from them. The claims rep said that it's looking favorable for me. The supervisor over in the Policy group said they should pay the claim but it's up to the local office to make that decision. The local office manager didn't want to make a decision and deferred the problem to the Regional manager. He's requested tapes from the conversation that I had with previous people before making a decision. They should of got the tapes in today. I'm hoping to find out something tomorrow. I'll keep you guys posted.

TAPES, WTF this is the oval office with bill clinton or anything...its a damn car for crying out loud, not a judicial movement....

nobody can make decisions anymore without any red tape involved!

by looks of it, i would think totalling would be involved! not repairing!
