Search for a new car.

With Jess totalled and my balance to get another car at about $7200 :tired: I've been car shopping before and after my vacation. I found a green 99 V6 Stang over at my local Ford dealer, except the engine sounded really off, and a puttering noise from the exhaust brought some questions that the salesman couldn't answer. It pisses me off when a customer knows more about a car than the salesman, that always happens to me. I saw a 3.9 Liter Engine sticker on this 2000 Mustang and I asked the sales guy about it. He's like, "Oh well it's got a 3.9 liter engine in it the sticker wouldn't lie!" I rolled my eyes and asked him to pop the hood to point to a sticker on the engine that said 3.8

Anyhow, I've got a question. I drove this 00 or 01 V6 Stang on the freeway. I gunned it but it didn't feel as powerful as my 98 V6. I know that the 99+'s have 190 hp correct? And my 98 only had about 150. Give or take 5-10 with the cold air intake. More like 5 or something. But in any case when I gunned the newer stang it didn't have the unf that Jessica did. Is there a change in torque or something that I may not know about? Can anyone help explain? This car looks pretty nice, all silver and beautiful interior.

If I can't find a stang pretty soon I'll buy a turbo eclipse to screw around in. So yeah.

woah buddy, hold the threats there!

I sorta felt like that too, when i went from 97 to 99. I think the 99s are heavier. I dunno, I never really asked. They look hella better!

rear gearing is higher(number wise) in 99+'s

94-98 V6 = 2.73
99+ V6 = 3.27

So what would that mean? It doesn't have that jolt or push like the 98's did?

And it's no threat I always liked how those 96-98 Eclipses looked back when I was in high school, when I sat in one I felt pretty comfortable too. It's just now with the shortage of money, an Eclipse is in the price range including a GS-T that I can play with till I'm a tad bit older then it's Cobra time. But I'm still looking at Stangs and I've found a few I'll check out tomorrow

It has better gears, more hp, and more torque. It just feels safer and "slower" because it won't rattle apart at speed. 94-98s have been known to rattle apart. Those ugly pieces of crap!

If I were in the car market again, I'd get a 93+ RX-7 or 94+ Supra.

Aaah I see, I understand now.

And yes I also am looking at the Supra and RX-7's but all *amaze* are ****ing expensive lol infact I was looking for RX-7's and Supras way before I even got in the accident. This ******* is on Autotrader and some other places "selling" Supras and RX-7's that are tricked out, or modified for way cheap. I e-mailed him about it and he gave some bull**** story that he lives in England and I'd have to send him the money and he would "Deliver" it to me and kept assuring me that everything would be alright and if I didn't like it I could have my money back.

It's pretty stupid. Here's one of his links now!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...or=&cardist=14

now really, would YOU sell a Supra with all that crap for 6500 even if something was wrong with it? Come on. Anyhow yeah :-/

Call your insurance and confirm the difference in rate between the V6 and the V8.

I was going to buy a Cobra before my Jeep and the rates were going to be like $5 more/month on the Cobra vs the V6.

From what the insurance company told me is the Cobras are harder for younger drivers to afford, and there are less of them on the road, so less of them need repair - thus the rates are not as high as one would expect.

mine for a cobra (19, male, lives in high $ town) would be $390 a month. that would be in my name only, a tad cheaper with my rents... i just cant see to pay more then i am on the car.

you could find a pretty tricked out 5.0 fox for $7200, just keep checking ads or look for local cars on ebay.

w00t seph youre doing the same thing i did.

looking hard as hell for that perfect sixer, but stumbled on the eclipse and its potential for a real highway killer. the GST sucks from a stop, but is waaaaaay better on the roll. youll find torquesteer and wheelspin to piss you off alot, but youll get over it when you pull 3rd all the way and pass them at 90.

but since you got 7200, most GST's i looked at were at 11g's. you might have to finance a little to make up the difference. or maybe youll get lucky like me and itll be done for 7500. oh and if anyone tells you that GST's suck cause they get crankwalk, theyre stupid. crankwalk is like 1 out of every 10 that was driven hard. id rather take the crankwalk chance than fart around with the tbird's p.o.s. tranny that had to be in the shop once every month just to stay on the road.

but sometimes ill be driving or see a 99+ and still wish i had found one. theyre much more agressive looking than the eclipse will ever be. and when i sat in a few it felt like me, which the eclipse still doesnt really "feel" like me. either did the tbird though. and i had her for years.

4 banger mustangs dont count. There isnt enough poison in them to convert him to the darkside.

btw, i will never go to the darkside, there is nothing like being thrown back in your seat by the torque or setting next to someone at a light and just letting your exhaust rumble

I'm sorry you drive a square body car. We'll forgive you.

And atleast our generation of the Cobra R had a 351 in it.

I went and checked out a mitsubishi dealership an hour ago, no GS-Ts...
they had a twin turbo 3000GT though They are just TOO GOD DAMN SMALL....

they also had a really nice silver 2003 V6 Stang, no 460 Mach speaker system in it though.

i dont know one of my cousins freind has a turbo 4cyl mustang. he says its just as fast as a 5.0, but for some reason, its very unreliable. i have yet to see it in person.

and mussels, you have seen the vid of me vs the STi right? and those are supposed mid 13 sec cars right with an evo. not saying i can take one, i can keep with it though. and i have yet to meet a srt4 that wants to play, they just get next to me, we give a little blip of the gas and they either slow down and get behind me or turn off. its happened multiple times now. but well see, ill prolly go out tomorrow night and look for prey cause i got new found grip with these new tires of mine, 1st gear wheelspin is almost not there anymore, so it grips and pulls very nicely. but i might be losing my clutch, i was on the freeway and dropped it into 3rd to pass people, and the rpms just kept climbing to 6k and the mph stayed the same, so i let off the gas, then tried it again and it went fine. and it smelt like fish when i parked it. but that just means its time for a clutch that can hold more hp, say a act 2100. i cant go to 2800 cause itll put too much stress on the crank and most people are saying with a 2800 it WILL crankwalk within 10k miles. so thats out of the question. plus im getting my settlement sometime here which will be in upwards of 5 grand. mod time.

i find it funny that even with half the displacement he can still fly by you in the 1/4. and his insurance would be cheaper with the neon under full coverage then say, a GT under full coverage. especially being a male of 20ish years. they look at displacement before they look at actual hp, and a 5.0 is gonna cost waaaaaay more than a 2.4. and the 2.5 will be just as fast.

and another thing, there was that 600hp srt4, it makes 150hp per cylinder. and was still street legal. is there any V8's that make 1200hp and are street legal? and by street legal, meaning with the whole interior and full exhaust setups? yeah 1200hp for most V8's are like race only with huge forced induced big blocks. i dont really remember where i was going with this(started eating and got sidetracked) but it sounds good anyways.

His name is Steve ANderson and that engine blew (fuel timing) the 600hp is no longer the goal. His current setup is going for 700hp. On the previous engine he had over 100 dyno runs when he blew his engine he was on pace for a pass in the 10's
