Hi

Sup, I'm new here, I usually hang out on 3.8mustang.com and I figured I'd venture out! My stang pics and mods are in my sig, its a 2000 v6 3.8L vert, no money for mods now. Tell me what you guys think, and what mods you think i should do first. Thanks!

Since you have an auto get a tranny cooler. Best $50 you can spend.

welcome to the boards, nice car...

What you start out with modding wise has pretty much been covered in the above post(s) but here we go!

Go for the gears.. I have 4.10's in my 2003 vert, adds a nice punch.
Ebay CAI... Dont waste your money on the more expensive ones.
Exhaust.. I have the flowmaster kit with an H-pipe... im happy with it.
Performance chip is a must.
Underdrive Pulleys.... Adds a nice touch.
Cams and a port and polish will do ya some good too.
Iridium Plugs, new plug wires. (I am using Denso plugs, and MSD 8.5 plug wires)

You only have one cam on a 3.8, get a reground to match your future plans, but first of all have your heads reworked by RGR, or RPM, Morana or someone else of your choice, a better cam with stock heads on a 3.8 is really a waste of money and a lot of effort for a few horsepower.

Whoa, just saw that one, please guys, don't waste your money on stuff like iridium plugs or fancy plug brands, unless maybe you are running power adders, in which case you will want to go with a less expensive copper plug, stay with the Motorcraft platinum plug that Ford put in your engine, you won't find one that will run better or last longer for you.

tranny coolers basically do what they say cool the tranny, by being cooled this will increase the lifespan of your tranny.

once you can afford it anyway...

But if your going to spend much on mods, you might as well have gotten a GT really

blah, my insurance is cheap. the combination of what I spent in mods and on the insurance with the V6 is less then my GT insurance. Though, I'm going a bit more mod crazy with the GT cuz it has more potential lol

I disagree. Ive seen v6's blow the doors in on gt's. Not that all of your gt's suck, but dont look away from a 6er because they can really be quick.

Especially when the GT owner isn't actually racing

(yep, anything can be made fast with enough money though)

and I'm 26, I pay $68/month for insurance (full coverage)

Nah, you're just not modding it correctly. My V6 is hella fast, and I'm not even supercharged yet. If I were to supercharge it, I think I would easily be pushing 450hp with a 11lb procharger.

My dad thinks its stupid for me to pay $125/month to drive my car. 2:

I guess he's comparing it to his $50/month.
