yah, any laptop will work wirelessly. Just make sure you have a good built in wireless card or you purchase a nice card.. Generally youll see the combo cards a/b/g n what not.

you'll need DSL or Cable to get that whole wireless internet thing going. You'll need a wireless router to send the signal out into your wireless card in your laptop thusly giving you the wireless internet

It is possible, Verizon has this thing that you could put into your laptop it's really expensive though. Wireless internet hasn't gotten to that point yet where it can be put everywhere from space and all. I'd say in another 10 years or something we should be up and running. Maybe 5? Not sure. Wireless internet like that is cool and all, but I worry about speeds.

Ah, I missread what you were looking for. The best you can do is hook up your cell phone and use it like a modem to get Internet Access anywhere ( you have a signal) or like mentioned above, youll need the whole wireless setup at home to do it. As for wireless everywhere your talking around $100 a month or more depending on the plan/provider you go to.

That and you dont want internet available everywhere, then youll have people jacking things from your PC lol. Hell I bluejack pictures onto peoples bluetooth (wireless networking) enabled cell phones. Funny stuff.

You are all wrong.

You can have wireless internet over the entire US and Europe with GPRS. I do.

It's $89.99 a month and is provided by AT&T.

Yeah. Plus GPRS is slow. Slower than a 56k modem.

But when you're on the road or out in the middle of nowhere it's really cool to have.

All you need is a wireless NIC.

NIC = Network Interface Card.

I will try to explain all the wireless crap...

The Centrino Mobile Technology is something Intel created that integrates the Pentium M processor with their PRO/Wireless networking. It is not needed for wireless communication. It's a more efficient way (according to Intel) to do wireless networking. The processor is smaller (the notebooks can be made slimmer), and requires less power consumption.

The Bluetooth technology allows connectivity between a lot of devices (not just computers.) They have bluetooth in laptops, cell phones, pdas, mp3 players, etc. It has a range of about 30 feet, so the main purpose of Bluetooth is to replace cables from devices.

T-Mobile (and a handful of other companies) offers Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) access in which you can connect to Hotspots in places like Starbucks, Hotels, Airports, and now even McDonalds, and get online.

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a technology provided by companies like AT&T. It's slow compared to other wireless technologies, but has a coverage area of the entire US and Europe.

To access a wireless network all you really need is a network card that uses the same standards (802.11a/b/g) as whatever access point you want to connect to.

Soon AT&T will be offering "EDGE", its an S'load faster the GRPS. As for my "Bluejacking" statement. When people have bluetooth enabled phones (like me) you can have wireless bluetooth accessories. I have a wireless hands free kit which just sits on your ear and thats it, no wires or anything . But when you leave your bluetooth on people can scan the area w/ their cell phones to find other bluetooth devices.

So say you have bluetooth turned on and Im in the same room as you, if I use my phone to search I will find yours. now normaly you need a code to pair the devices, but there are ways around it. I like to take pictures of the people who own the phone, then dump the pic I took of them onto their phone. Its great to see people look at the picture then look around the room all worried while they try to figure out what just happend.

Its fun .

I believe he means unlimited nationwide wireless. Similar to what I've got. It's $89.99/month.
