Re: Tuberville Gone

Auburn is desperate. This will only make them worse though. Now I see Auburn going back to what they were before Alabama went on probation. The team that upsets Alabama 1-3 times a decade but loses the rest of the time. Tubberville was a great coach, even though I didn't like him.

Re: Tuberville Gone

I'm surprised. I think that was a bit premature.

ESPN - Ivan Maisel: Tommy Tuberville's Auburn Tigers tenure ends

Quote:
Having a coach like that is good. The last thing you want to do when facing Nick Saban Inc. is call in the moving vans and start over. Only someone with an athletic death wish would trade in a coach with 10 years of recruiting ties throughout the Southeast for a staff that might not be able to find 6A finalist Hoover High with a pack of bloodhounds and a Garmin.
Quote:
What's that?

You let him go?

You're going to pay him $6 million not to coach?

And start over from scratch? Against Nick Saban?

You're kidding, right? Is there something about Tommy Tuberville that causes you to make agonizingly stupid decisions?

Forget I ever brought it up. Good luck finding a coach better than the one you just forced out. Whoever he is, give him a message:

Hoover High is just south of Birmingham.

I've always enjoyed Ivan Maisel articles on ESPN. He couldn't have said that better.

Re: Tuberville Gone

I heard today on radio news that it was 100% Tubby's decision to RESIGN. He was asked to stay but thought it best for himself, his family and the school that he take at least a year off.

School official said that fortunately after the recent successful seasons and planning, they were financially set to make an offer to the candidate of their choice.

Re: Tuberville Gone

Had he decided to leave on his own they wouldn't be paying him the severance package.

This is them covering their *** because the fan base is not happy.

Re: Tuberville Gone

They have been looking for any reason to get rid of him since 03. The trustees are ruining Auburn.

Re: Tuberville Gone

From what I've read, that's why the face saving is going on right now. Somewhere around 03 they did some secret coach search that ended up not so secret and then auburn went 13-0 or something like that???

From what people are saying on the LSU boards, that's why the story was changed from he was fired to he left on his own. The original write up when I posted this said he was fired...now it is he left.

Re: Tuberville Gone

Sad to see him leave either way. He was a good coach. I think had he of gotten to coach next year the team would of been completely different.
