Angry people, 18 wheelers, and large pieces of metal all suck!

I don't feel like explaining this again, so here's part of a conversation between me and Brent. It's a little cleaned up, cuz I don't type clearly when I'm mad.

Me= WOLF311210
Brent= a232stang

WOLF311210: hey
a232stang: sup
WOLF311210: im pretty pissed
a232stang: whats up
WOLF311210: my car is dead
a232stang: uh oh
WOLF311210: i didnt crash it, nothing my fault
a232stang: what happened
WOLF311210: i was coming back from orientation at uab today, and i was passing this 18 wheeler.
WOLF311210: i was in the left lane, and they were in the right. another 18 wheeler was maybe 75 yards in front of the truck i was passing. the 18 wheeler in front was one of those big flatbed trucks, like the ones that haul steel coils.
a232stang: yea
WOLF311210: but there werent any coils on it, just a big tarp.
WOLF311210: well, u know how they cinch those coils down? those big metal things that tighten the straps?
a232stang: yea
WOLF311210: well, one of those, at least i think thats what it was, flew off the bed of the truck and bounced, of course, directly in my lane.
a232stang: damn
WOLF311210: alright, so i'm going in the 80s, on my left is a big concrete highway divider. on my right is a huge 18 wheeler.
WOLF311210: i have NOWHERE to go. so i just slam on my brakes and try to steer so i don't hit it with any of my tires, it's maybe 6+ inches tall, and still bouncing.
a232stang: damn
WOLF311210: and it is metal. i can tell that much.
WOLF311210: so i hear the big THUMP! and look in the rearview, not knowing what to expect.
WOLF311210: all I can see is smoke. all over the place. its pouring out from under my hood, all behind my car, everywhere.
a232stang: radiator?
WOLF311210: the 18 wheeler i was passing slammed on his brakes and let me over to the shoulder.
WOLF311210: so i went straight there and threw it in park and took out the key.
WOLF311210: i wait a minute, trying to settle down a little. and i crawl over and get out on the pass side, so as not to get killed by an oncoming 18 wheeler ******* who probably wouldn't stop.
WOLF311210: and there is this brownish, dark liquid pouring out from under my car.
WOLF311210: im thinking great. oil pans busted or something.
a232stang: transmission
a232stang: is it redish?
WOLF311210: well i look under. its not the oil pan, but im not sure what it is. a lot of metal parts under my car are seriously dented/scratched/etc.
a232stang: its the transmission pan
a232stang: bet ya
WOLF311210: one thing is hanging down, no clue what it is, but it wasnt hanging there before.
WOLF311210: so i call the parents.
WOLF311210: i dont know exactly where im at. apparently im right in the middle of 2 highway markers. there are no signs anywere.
WOLF311210: they told me not to leave the car, so they get a uhaul car hauler and come to get me, cuz a tow truck wont come cuz they dont know my *exact* location.
WOLF311210: they get there, after at least an hour, and i am now convinced that the world is full of ********, because not one person bothered to stop.
a232stang: damn dude
WOLF311210: yeah. nobody stopped at all.
a232stang: you work Monday? Probably do
WOLF311210: i have the accord i can drive...
WOLF311210: better than nothing i guess. a paycheck is a paycheck.
a232stang: me and brandon can drive out there if you want and look at it
WOLF311210: its at the dealer. thx tho.
a232stang: oh
WOLF311210: insurance. which is going to go up, through NO FAULT OF MINE!
WOLF311210: dammit!
a232stang: that sucks dude. If someone was following you they could have stayed with the semi and made him stop
a232stang: Cause I sure as hell would have if I was following you
WOLF311210: i wish somebody like you would have been there then. nodoby did anything.
WOLF311210: so when my parents got there, i tried to drive the stang onto the car hauler, and when i gave it gas in drive, it was just like it was in neutral.
a232stang: tranny. its not going to be cheap
WOLF311210: thank god, who I am convinced hates me at this point, for $250 deductibles then. nothing in my life has gone right for most of this year.
a232stang: lol
a232stang: yea your probably going to have to have the tranny rebuilt or a new one
WOLF311210: yeah, the fluid was reddish, it was the transmission, and the guy at the ford place said it also hit the transfer case or something like that.
WOLF311210: i'm not positive if thats what he said, because my dad was speculating the whole ride there what HE thought it was, so i might be confused. I am so totally pissed at this point i might swing on anybody who looks at me funny.
a232stang: lol it could have been worse dude. Atleast you didnt lose control and total it
WOLF311210: ****ing truck drivers.
a232stang: and it wasnt a steel coil lol
a232stang: Final Destination 2 anyone
a232stang: haha
WOLF311210: yeah. im still not in the mood for jokes, but thanks anyways.
a232stang: lol sorry. I know how you feel. I didnt feel like jokes either after totaling my car. Theres nothing you can do about it though. So just try to let it go.
WOLF311210: they said it should only take a week or so. no estimate yet, the guy that does that is out of town till monday.
a232stang: yea people are just inconsiderate

so yeah. that's my great story for the week. i've had a wonderful Friday night and intro to college.

It's a 50/50 thing with the trucker. The trucker's fault cause it didn't look over it good enough and the yard's fault for not tightening it.

My dad's a dock manager.

well he never stopped, and i couldnt see the side of his cab and there arent any sides on a flatbed, so I don't know who it was or what company or anything.

Wouldn't of helped. 70% chance the truck or trailer was rented. They don't keep real good records on the renters.

your insurance shouldnt go up. My brother hit a deer and just about had his car totaled... insurance fixed it and the premium hasnt gone up. I dont think you should worry about that.

i talked to the insurance. they said not only is my insurance going up, so is my dad's. I still live here at home for a few more weeks till school starts, and he is listed as the primary driver on my car. Even though I was driving, there was absolutely nothing I could do to avoid it, and it wasn't really my fault, my insurance, and my dad's is going up according to the company.

STATE FARM IS FULL OF PRICKS!

my mom wrecked her old altima about a month ago... we just got a letter in the mail stating that they're dropping her AND my brother (he's on her policy)... that was her first wreck in over 5 years. my brother only has a minor (under $400 damage) fender bender to his name... apparently they're counting my 2 wrecks from a couple years ago against her, even though i'm with a different company now (have been for over a year, cuz state farm dropped me) and even though i wasn't a registered driver on her altima (i never drove it, that thing sucked)

does that sound like bull**** to anyone else?

Dude, you need to talk to a lawyer or the state insurance regulators and get the facts. I dunno about where you live but here in TX what happened to you would be covered by uninsured motorist and that does not affect your rates. Might want to verify they can rape you like that.
