Air Bags

Well, as many of you know, I wrecked my car a while back. Insurance is not going to pay.....please don't ask why. There is another thread on this already. I'm trying out different angles on trying to get my car fixed. How fast do you have to be going for your air bags to deploy in an accident? Is it based on speed or impact? I don't know what triggers that mechanism. I'm thinking that since mine didn't go off, maybe I can go after Ford and do something that way. Any input is appreciated!

There are two sensors in the front bumper. I think the speed is 40mph or higher atleast thats what someone told me.

Dude get a lawyer and sue them????

I don't know, when I totaled my first car, I hit a pole in the passenger side and I got airbags. Sum*****es burned my arm too.

If you plan on doing that, you HAVE to get a lawyer. No way Ford is going to just hand you money.

I meant sue the insurance company. Your not going to get anything on Ford without paying out some serious cash to sue them

oh. I thought he meant he wanted to go after Ford?

OK, yeah, he did mean he wanted to go after Ford. I guess I misunderstood your post Brent. Yeah, it'll cost a lot to sue Ford, and I'm not sure you could win that. You'd need some sort of sympathy I think from the judge. And I don't think "my favorite car in the world was totaled" is gonna work.

yea im with him the people that win usually suffer an injury other than a wrecked car to be able to have a chance, and to my understanding u havent an injury. like stated sueing the insurance people would be a wiser choice.

Thanks for the input. Just looking for options. Haven't tried to sue the insurance company yet. Still going through the Texas Dept of Insurance. Waiting to see what they say first. I called a lawyer and that was their suggestion. Usually if this dept finds the insurance company at fault, they will send a letter and most of the time they pay. If that doesn't work, then I have to retain a lawyer.

Yeah, I understand what you're doing.

I would definitely wait to see what this Dept finds first. Then you can start looking at lawsuits.

Good luck again with all this.

dude, what DO you pay insurance for? Alright, wait for what's his face to tell you no, and find a lawyer. You pay for the coverage, and then they're going to tell you no? WTF is that all about? Someone needs to kick them in the head.

35* of the sensor and they blow.

But I will give you some advice, since your car is so new, insurance might just total it, and then buy it back from the junk yard and repair it and sell it to make money off of it.

So, if it's in the junk yard, I would go get it.
